I've owned my CTD for almost four years, and haven't done much yet to increase its performance. However, it's about time to do it! I have a '97 2500 4x4 auto; the intake manifold has an EGR valve that I think is specific to California. I recall reading or hearing somewhere that there is a difference between these EGR-equipped intake manifolds and the non-EGR manifolds--that the non-EGR manifolds have a larger air passage and therefore allow for better "breathing. " Is this correct? If so, would it be advisable to replace my current manifold with a non-EGR manifold? And finally, where might I find one?

I purchased a cali truck and the intake had a restriction of about the size of a quarter. There is a shop that sells a ported inake manafold or run with an aftermarket . Look under links an find the shop in cali they offer the ported one. Hope this helps. D

Get that thing off your truck as fast as possible. Buy a 49 state intake from Piers, or maybe get one off a junk yard 95. The one I got from Piers is chrome. He also has a little plate to cover the location at the exhaust valve.

Your truck will feel better and wake up. Mine was a pig before the change.

JandH Performance in Reading also sell them. Get that thing off fast and loose the exhaust manifold in favor of an ATS or other three piece. You will like the difference in performance it will bring:-laf I know I was:cool:

Quicker turbo spool, cooler egt's, faster cool downs, and a deeper tone exhaust sound. These were some things I noticed.

SWEET!!! I was just about to order one from Farmboydiesel.com but wasn't sure what the benefits are besides not having to worry as much about cracks.
