JFaulkner - I've seen that giant red semi (or one very much like it) you pictured here on Ohio roads... are you at all involved with it?

No I've talked to one of their drivers once and seen them load one of those trailers. Really impressive, expecially the ones with the Cat on the rear to help push. Their website is pretty good lots'o pics and videos Here

we contract out those large type trucks to haul the 345Kv Transformers... I have some good pics on paper, but no scanner... they are definitely a sight to see!

He does not have much ground clearance, watch out for the speed bumps.

Some of the rigs that haul and do the final positioning of mobile homes have full locking rear tandem axles and full locking front axles too. They only use the full lock-up settings when they are on dirt and just creeping a 40K-60K home in or out of a home site. They have to be careful because even with the fully locked front end they still tend to go where the rear axles send them.

I seen a truck like the red one getting on 222 in December 05 they had a man on the rear working the rear steer as they were getting on the ramp, It was a sight to see and I am glad I was in front of that slow moving road block. :-laf

The center section will actually lift like 3 feet off the ground to clear RR tracks and uneven roads. I only know that because one stopped beside me and started to raise to clear a hump in the drive.
