OK, I'm gonna open up a can of worms here,,,,What Box is best to get the most power without Tapping into the vp44 pump wire. I'm ready to buy, I thinking about the EZ, give me your opinionsOo. And as always thanks to the TDR members for enlighten me:)

if your transmission is stock and you tow, you are looking asking for problems.

If not, either find a first generation VA or ez or comp w/o the wire hooked up give you the option of turning the box off with a flick of the switch, which is a very nice option

shop around because prices do vary :)

More power

With having a 99 I'd be REAL CARFULL with a box on it those early injection pumps it could toast it. the E-Z is a great box BUT you have to get some injectors to feel the power. Eric

transmission will get upgraded, I do tow a 26 foot enclosed trailer, but when I tow I do take it easy, I realize the transmission is weak!!

More power

In that case DO THE COMP. One of the 1st things you should do is full gauges, and don't forget the fuel pressure VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Eric

guages will be installed, I already have a triple "A" pillar for them,

I plan to have one gauge to be a dual setup, I have 3 spots but want 4 guages,,,,boost,,,fuel pressure,,,trans temp,,,,egt,,,... black backgrounds with white numbers,,,

any ideas about the combo gauge, whats available in the combo set-ups!!!

Oh now you tell me!

So the 99's had weak VP44's... I just put my EZ on. I have to say it seems to run better but the conditions tonight are different than last Sunday so I will have to see in the heat tomorrow.

Lucky your VP is new I guess...

Ira

I lost my first pump on my 98 at 26k. Went on its own. I didnt help it out. The second pump was good to go. Ran a comp on 5x5 for quite a while.

If you're not going to tap the little pump wire, then I would say the max output should be the same since the amount of Max fueling is determined by the ECM. In other words, the ECM is the limiting factor.

Personally, I like Power Edge products. Great products and great service.

disclaimer: not affliated with any vendor.

I also will also be adding gauges soon so I can install my new comp. box :D that is sitting on the shelf :( I will be adding boost, trans temp, egt in the piller pod and thought the fuel pressure gauge would work out well in one of the new colunm pods by autometer would ant one have a pictuer they could post... thanks George

Which Box

I put on the Diesel Dynamics TTPM, which is a tweaked Edge EZ. It comes with the boost elbow as well. I think the product works really well and I haven't had any problems with it. The only problem I have had, I just recently encountered. Its the transmission and what I think is a TC shutter. I've had the box on for ~4months and my truck only has 56k mi. I thought I would get more miles out of the transmission. I don't have gauges, but am ordering this week, so I can't check my FP. I'm going to take the box off and see if I can repeat problem to determine if trans. My MPG has increase ~2. Get more air. Take what you will from this lesson.

Hope this helps.

P. S. HP is addicting, its starts with a box or injectors...
