Tried to search on here but can't seem to find the towing capacity and payload charts for the newer generation trucks. I found the 2012 capacities but would also like to know how or if they changed between 08 and 12.

I've seen on the Ram truck site that the 12 trucks in 3500 4x4 crew cab SRW config with short bed have trailer towing up to 13,5k with 3. 73 gears and 16k with 4. 10 gears.

Is that with a heavy duty type V hitch ex reese titan or other and extra heavy duty draw bar?

Anybody towing a trailer above 10k with a dead weight hitch at these weights? How does the truck perform and how hard is stopping?

Thanks,

Ben

Ben, I picked up my dream Ram three weeks ago... a 2012, 3500 crew cab w/ full sized bed, 4X4, SRW with the HO Cummins, geared at 3. 73.

All the new Rams come with a class 4 hitch rating... (that tend to be under rated for the dead weight hitch towing most of us do. )

I am an avid boater and pull a heavy boat & trailer combo, (13K total half fuel & water). Even though the stock class 4 hitch is nice that my truck came with... I was not comfortable with it being under rated for the dead weight of my boat and trailer.

I upgraded my hitch by adding an after market (SuperHitch from Torklift Central). My new hitch bolts on directly underneath the stock one and onto the frame, there by giving me two receivers, and strengthing & reinforcing the frame/bumper area.

I now have a dead weight pulling/towing capacity of 15K from the hitch, and 18,500K with a weight distribution system. I checked with my dealer and with Dodge/Ram directly and it does not void my warranty.

Now, to answer you other question... My new Ram 3500 has performed beyond my expectations! As I have mentioned, I tow pretty heavy off the hitch, with a tri-axled trailer using disk surge brakes on the trailer. The Cummins has been exceptional and the tow/haul feature, coupled with the integrated deisel exhaust brakes feature has made my towing and braking super effortless and worry free. To put it blutly... My Ram doesn't even feel the weight back there.

Later on I plan on upgrading my trailer's surge brake system to an electric over hydraulic system so that I can take advantage of the intergrated trailer brake module my truck came with... . but that is a later project.

Hope this info helps you.
