I have a 2005 with a 6sp.

I am thinking about going Auto. Can I get away with putting manual valve body auto that has been beefed up.

I know flywheel, driveshaft. maybe crossmember ect.

But will the ecm care what could it look for in the 6sp.

Thanks

mike

I think you'd be better off trading your truck in for an auto.

I looked into the same thing, and it's not worth it. Especially on the newer 3rd gens, as the ecm controls the transmission as well. Earlier 3rd gens had separate trans/engine modules, but they still needed to be swapped out. The autos and manuals are programmed differently.

By the time you buy and build your auto, you're into it for at least $5k, then add an ecm, labor, hardware, and I'd bet you're over $8k when you're done.

I'd rather buy another truck with an auto, especially if I had a truck like yours with very minor mods.

I'm stuck with mine, so I just need to make up for the slow shifting with horsepower :D

Why trade?A built auto is going to cost all I want to know is what does the 6sp ell the ecm.

Remember I am thinking about a full manual valvebody so nothing needs to tell it to shift.

What would it take?

If you want to go to a full manual shift auto, then yo need to be looking at a 47RH out of a 94-95 truck. They can be made to full manual rather easily.

If you want to make it a true auto then look at a standalone controller (PM me), and you could run a 47RE or 48RE.

Later,

Wes
