Today, i finally got around to installing the SPS66 turbo. I was under the impression that it had a true 4" outet. Mine has a 3. 5" outlet. They did sell me the downpipe that works perfectly with it. I really thought that they said it was a 4" exaust. Am I on crack?

Also, that thing is one badaasss turbo. i literally put the truck sideways on the highway the first time i rolled on the throttle. I was rolling about 55 in 6th, and the thing pegged at like 39-40 psi and broke traction. :--) Oo.

Also the entire ATS manifold / SPS66 turbo changeout took like 2 hours total, except the oil return line took another 2 hours. I even thought that one of the 10mm return line bolts fell into the line itself :( After looking from the topside it was found between 2 parts of the frame, thank god. !!

Did everyone else have a hard friggin time putting the drain line on the turbo? That inside bolt by the wastegate diaphram is about impossible.

luken - no i did not, as i unbolted it from the original and removed the original turbo and manifold as a unit. I did mount the turbo to the new manifold before install, however.

Next time, I'll install the drain tube first.

your 03 should be 3. 5 inch exhaust up to the cat i think... . i could be wrong.

HO 04's and 04. 5's started the full 4 inch system... . again, i could be wrong...

this is the turbo i have been thinking about going to.

i did the same thing. bolted the turbo up and had everything complete except for the two ten mm bolts for the drain. i got one started and then couldn't get the other one started. owell i finally got it.

I like my SP66 pretty well. EGT's are a lot higher than I think they should be, from what I was told when I purchased it. And towing with it takes a little getting used to. When you change gears, the turbo lags a little, then BOOOM, 40 psi!. With 20k behind you, you kinda wonder when the transmission is gonna explode. The 6 speed is definately tough so far. I actually barked the tires in 2nd and 4rd with 16k on the trailer last week. My buddy wanted me to "show him what it will do with a load".

I noticed higher cruising EGT - but lower overall EGT

But I think thats normal... My biggest EGT reduction was adding the Injectors...

03 & 04 HO's are 3. 5" to the muffler, no cat.
