Questions about SBC CON FE

Who has this clutch that pulls heavy? Does it work fairly welling under heavy loads? I noticed that the pads on the clutch seem to be somewhat thin, but very hard, what kind of life span can I look forward to?



Also, how is the feel of the clutch - from foot action, to backing up, to any little quirks?

Not the clutch I would recommend for heavy towing. It is grabby with a heavy load. You won't wear the disk, but you will wear the flywheel. I ran one for 25K miles in my 03 6speed. Moved on up to a DD, for the HP and loads I was carrying. It will chatter backing up, say 14K loads. I once had 17K behind me, and it was jerky in 1st starting out.

Im with fred, its not the best pulling clutch because its grabby. Mine holds everything I can throw at it but its a bit grabby, I only tow about 7-8K and backing and getting off the line is tricky but other than that its ok.

I don't do it often, but am in a situation that I have no other choice this week. We are heading to Tulare and my driver has the 05 out on the road. I'm going to be pulling around 26,000lbs.

you'll be fine... only problem is getting the load moving... backing up can be a PITA... once you're rolling, it's no problem though.

I don't know, but the one in my 2nd gen worked perfect, actually it was better under a big load than when it was empty. Maybe there is something different but I liked mine!! It had light pedal pressure, seemed lighter than stock. Anyway good luck and I hope that it works out for you!

I don't have any choice My TST came in also, so I'll have to grit my teeth and get it rolling faster.
