Running Lights Dead, Can't Use Truck

Hey all,

Before anyone gets concerned, I'm not leaving the 1st gen fold... just taking a break to build up funds.

I have a very clean '93 W350 ext cab. It has 135k miles and I am the 3rd owner. When I bought the truck, it was 100% stock with the exception of a new Suncoast transmission and torque converter. This was really a factor in deciding to purchase it (both the fact it was not turned up and it had a transmission that would allow me to bomb it heavily if I wanted)

My question is, should I sell it with the mods I've done or should I remove them and re-install the stock parts? I'm just trying to think like the mostly uninformed general public that will potentially purchase the truck, and want to know how it will appeal to them most.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Pay it Forward

Ya know, I always liked the Rocky Mountains, Hover Dam, and the seventh inning stretch ( John Denver ).

I think you should Pay it Forward.

I'll go for the freight.

Let me know when it will be ready for shipment.

Thanks in advance.

If you have the time and desire, I would remove the stuff you can replace with stock items. You will not get any more for the truck with them attached , and other members of this forum would greatly appreciate them. So play them forward like the post before mine suggested.

Thanks for the replies so far. I wish I could afford to put the whole truck on the pay it forward board :D

I am leaning towards keeping the "goodies" and selling the truck mostly stock. I will be getting another first gen (engine anyways) so will keep the mods for the next one

That's basically what I plan on doing with my '92. Sadly I will be leaving the 1st gen fold--but not in spirit! :D

With our first baby due in early December, I've started my search for that elusive '98 12v quad cab. That means I won't be able to take all my goodies with me, but I'm not selling it as-is either. I'm going to re-install the stock airbox and air filter, remove the PDR HX35 and reinstall the stock H1C, and turn the pump down just enough so that it can't exceed 1250 at sustained full-throttle. I'm going to leave in the PW injectors and the guages.

I would probably consider leaving in the BHAF and not turn down the pump if the buyer was an interested TDR member. But of the few of us that are here in Alaska, the vast majority have 24v trucks, so there's probably a 99% chance whoever buys my truck will not have any special interest in diesels.

Look at it this way you won't get more for the truck with the mods over stock, In many cases it would lessen the value. When I was looking for a truck I wanted one that was stock and unmolested. Now many of the trucks I saw had gauges and housings and they were the same price or less than a stock one. So if it were me I would pull them for the next truck or sell them...

BTW. . If you do decide to go this way and want to sell the POD's, PM me as I am looking for a used set of POD's. .

Or just have two prices???

It might help if you say well I'll take 1500 less if I keep the intake injectors and turbo. If they step up great, if not you can add them to the next ride.

I have been mulling over the same question with my truck

I have guages and now a turbo plus a LARGE diamond plate tool box. And all that stuff is worth 1000$ to me. If the next owner want it I hope they will step up.

I look forward to what kind of responces you get from prospective buyers.

Have a great day
