I wish I knew the specifics but I don't. After replacing all of my front-end parts I knew it had to be the box. I looked at the Borgeson box because of what you listed. I bought it from Rip at Source Automotive because he said it has performed great! If you trust the vendors you buy from & they suggest something, that's good enough for me. BTW, just got off the freeway & I LOVE the way this thing goes down the road FWIW... .

Hello

Just replaced my OEM with a Borgeson box @ 265,000 miles, what a difference. Now I can turn the wheel with a finger, no not feel and clunks or wandering; wish I had replaced the OEM years ago; cost some $$$, but well worth it.

Just my . 2

Basically, you loosen the set locking nut and then run the set bolt down (by hand, no powertools). Once the set bolt hits bottom, you back it off about 1/4 turn and tighten the locking nut. Make sure the set bolt does not move while locking it in place. If you go too tight, it will bind and cause too much wear in the box.

Put a borgenson box in my 95. Tighter ratio and easier to turn. It drives like my third gen now. Should do it to a new second gen.

Where is the Borgeson box made? If it's a Delphi part, it could be made in China. When people who bought and installed a Borgeson, did it have a country of origin marked on it?

A close friend and neighbor died a slow and painful death from the contaminated heparin reagent that was exported to the US from China. He's had minor surgery, and heparin is used to keep an I. V line open. So I am just a little hesitant to buy Chinese unless I must, y'see.

Steering woes

I strongly suggest the Borgeson box. I bought mine from Geno's and I'm impressed and it took me about an hour or less to replace it. I believe my truck drives/steers better than new. Can't beat the warranty, and certainly can't beat the drive feel! At speed, it has plenty of road feel (it's firm), so for some people this may be objectionable, but I like it. It also has a quicker turn ratio. I typically make left/right turns and use 3/4 to 1 full turn, that's it! AND IT'S AMERICAN MADE!

Hello

I agree with Mando Cantu 100%. Switched to Borgeson products; American Made, with a steering shaft, steering box, and a BD Steering box Box Stabilizer, and I'm extremely satisfied- if you own a Dodge Ram; why not.

Answers my question and concerns nicely. Thanks.

I just installed the BD adjustable track bar, borgeson steering box and shaft. Truck is a 3500 4x4 with 172,000 miles and now steers better than when it was new.

Not a cheap upgrade, but it makes a big difference.
