I want to buy a new ram... but after reading about "lift" pumps and steering probs... . and pins that come out... To say the least I am alittle bit nervous... Someone please tell me Dodge has fixed these probs??? and mean it:) thanks in advance... garth

Of course anything can fail but the lift pump problem seems to have been solved. My truck steers great, no slop or wander and the 2wd's are even better with their rack and pinion steering.

The problems of old are gone.

Go Drive One.

There have been no problems with the CR engine, dowel pins have not been an issue since 98, go drive a used one if you have steering questions. Remember everyone has something to whine about.

I've had no problems like those with either my old 01' or my 04'. Only issue I currently have with my 04 is a heavy vibration at the steering column at idle -- something that I'm sure will be easily fixed by the dealer if I can ever make time to take my truck in.

I just topped 1,000 miles in my '04 305/555 HO. There is no "lift pump" per se in the common rail engines. No steering problems at all on mine----it handles VERY GOOD for a 3/4 ton truck. The six-speed is a little noisy but it is a beefy unit so I think that goes with the territory. The hydraulic clutch has a much lighter action and feel than the '89 Chibby S-10 I just got rid of!! It makes shifting gears fun. Drive the truck-------you'll be happy you did!
