Questions from the new guy

I have a 91 first gen. I have already decided to install an AST 3 piece manifold, but need advice on choosing an exhaust system and air cleaner assembly. What have you guys found and would recomend? I know that a complete exhaust for my truck dosen't exist, I would have to modify a later system. Any insite would be helpful. Thanks.

Id put this on the 1st generation section im sure somebody all ready has a good set up on one. Also i would give Rip a call 1-866-211-1533 www.sourceautomotive.biz he should be able to set you up with somthing for your truck

Is your 91 intercooled or not? If so, you are in the clear. If not, then you will have some difficulties, but nothing that cant be overcome. I would recommend a BHAF; skip the K&N if you live in an area with fine dust or live on gravel roads. I'd contact PDR, High Tech Turbo, or some similar shop about turbo upgrades. The H1C is pushing its limits at 25psi boost- a hair over stock . You can make a 4" downpipe for your first Gen fairly easily, or so Greenleaf tells me. I made the rest of my 4" system, though it was not of the highest quality materials, I got the fit pretty well for my first attempt. Get some gauges (pyrometer, boost, and transmission temp for autos) and go for at least 40psi; I have hit 38 a time or two with my current set up, and am not that heavily BOMBed. I would also set the timing to 1. 6mm @ TDC. ALso, take the time to find true TDC, the pin is good for setting valves, but not always reliable for something as sensitive as timing.
