My question is regarding the difference in engine noise around the 1500-1800 rpm range while driving. Especially in low speeds, although this noise is present at higher speeds, but not as pronounced as it is at low speeds. The cummins definately sounds different in this rpm range. Noise is hard to describe but it sounds like the motor has more "clatter" at these rpm's. Dealer has said noise is normal, any insight from you guys would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

I noticed the same thing between my 04' and 05', 6500 miles on the 05' still sounds the same, no problems that I can detect.

My 325/600 became noisier after having the TSB for "white smoke and poor fuel mileage" performed.

I was told by TST that the reflash removes the third fuel injection event, consequintly the engine now clatters like a diesel:D

You all are describing the dreaded injector clatter. Look for white smoke on start up and also let it sit for a few days and start it up,. . it should have more white smoke if the injector/injectors are bad. Also runs rough especially at low steady speeds. It kind of sounds like bad lifter/lifters.

truck does have more white smoke after sitting over weekend(even in heated garage) but my dealer -- can't see it, so it just can't be!

Over a two month period I ended up having 7 injectors changed out on my truck before I affected a fix. If your fortunate enough to get it fixed change where you fuel and also put on a 3 micron filter. I went a step further and put on a FASS. No problems for 5 months now for me.
