Just recently had my auto rebuilt by a good reputable rebuilder in the area, he upgraded the stator on the tc, put in a billet cover, HD clutches, and bumped the line pressure... Except for one issue, the transmission is great. .

My issue is, under light throttle from a stop, it will shift from 1-2-3 before 15-18mph. Now, if I stomp on it, it will shift slower, gaining more mph before shifting.

What can I do about this, I dont like running in 3rd all the time, the engine seems to bog a bit. Prolly not good for the 3rd clutchpack either. I find myself shifting to 2 manual to get around this. . I think I may have a 3-2 kickdown issue also, it seems slower to shift down on an uphill than my old stock setup. .

thanks in advance. .

Could be the throttle valve cable isn't adjusted properly, or maybe they need to drop the valve body and make a few changes with the springs, to change the shift points.

Well, I`ve checked the TV cable, looks good, seems to be in sync with the throttle.

I`m just wonderin if theres a transmission tech here that could describe a fix for this so I can tell the transmission guy whats up... He sez an unloaded truck is supposed to shift like that. I disagree. My dad's 99 held 2nd until 25-30mph sometimes. . never shifted like mine... This is supposed to be an electronic transmission, shifting on pressures sensed thru the gov. pressure sensor. . mebe theres a way to tell the 'puter somethin different.

transmission guys, haaalp!

I have a stock '98 transmission with 165K and it sounds like it is doing the same thing. Much of the time I'm manually shifting as well. Have not checked TPS voltage yet. Would be interested in a cure as well. I don't like the fact that when running in 3rd with TC locked up that when shifted to OD the TC unlocks first. On my '00 chevy when shifting from 3rd to 4th the TC stays on.

There is an adjustment for the 123 shift on the VB. Its near the line pressure adjustment.

Screw it in to make the shifts come later. Out and they shift rabbit quick.

I believe 13/16 from the stamped steel piece is ballpark and one turn is 10mph... . or something like that.

My 47rh shifts into 3rd at light pressure at 30-35... WOT at 45-50
