Do you know if I can fit 285/70/17 on my 03 4x4 dually w/o having to put the spacers on the rear? I have seen it done on a 99 but curious on the 03?

Thanks

I highly doubt you will get a 285 size tire under a dually without spacers. With my factory 235's I only have about 1. 5"s between the tires. Stepping up to 285's would almost be a 2" increase. I am almost certain they would rub. Super Swamper sells a 34"x10. 5" tire that would probably work nice for our dually's. The downside is that it is a bias tire.

You would also need wider rims. The factory dually rim is only a 6-inch bead (DC really missed the boat here... if they were going to make a unique 17-inch diameter, they should have gone to 7-inch width too). Putting an 11-inch tire on a 6-inch rim would likely bulge (collapse) the sidewalls to a danger point.

There is a fella in the next town with a 4 inch lift running 305's with the same stock rims. They are really smashed together, not really the look i am going for. One tire guy here in town says yes it will work, they will touch, but not be as slammed as the 305's of course. i am going to talk to some other tire guys because i really hope that something like this can be pulled off.

Well, good luck with it. Keep us posted. I am getting ready to get a set of tires for my dually and would like to go a step bigger. So if they can get them to work I would like to know also.
