NEED GM 6.5 Help!!!

My dad's 91. 5 is finally getting it's gauge/16cm^2 housing treatment today, but I lost the instructions to the drilling measurments for the probe. On his truck we are using the Autometer gauges that don't come with the same cummins based instructions as the Di's do. Any help for the correct location to drill this thing would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Guys:

Where is a good place to get a 1/8" pipe fitting? I also need to install my pyrometer. I'm confused on what to do. Thanks

J Demaio, that is not a 1/8" pipe fiting, it is a 1/4" tubing fitting with a 1/8" pipe thread on one end, you should be able to find it at a good hardware store. bg

Pyro Fitting

First you need to know the size of the pyro, some are 1/4" dia and some are 1/8" dia. You will need a brass or stailess compression fitting for the tube size that is the same as your pyro. You will have to modify the fitting by drilling it through, so that the pyro be iserted. The pipe thread size will be determined to some extent by the pyro size, if you drilled out a 1/4" tube x 1/8npt fitting, it would not have much wall thickness at the pipe thread. Also when you tap your manifold, tapered pipe taps are depth sensitive, the deeper that you tap, the looser the fit. Best to make a test hole in scrap piece of metal first, and then mark the depth on the tap with some tape.

Thanks for the help guys, size is important, we just had to go buy another pipe tap as the autometer is 1/8" where a lot of the others are 1/4"

Thanks again,

Russell
