A-Pillar Triple Gauge Install

Any reports on the Happi Box?

Put the B1 and BDIII's in the other day and this is what I noticed so far:

1. Stock turbo and injectors, 60F cruising at 65 boost was at 6. 1

B1 with BDIII's at 72F cruising at 65 boost was 2. 9 I don't even know if there should have been a difference like that, but that's what I saw.

2. Coming home from a long highway trip usually after the short drive through the neighborhood I pull into the driveway with egt's still in the mid 400's pre turbo. I pulled in with the B1 and new injectors and egt's were at 330F and fell to below 300 within 5 to 10 seconds. Now when I come home from driving around town I can shut the truck down immediately.

3. I can't use the edge comp because my clutch slips instantly, I was quite embarrassed coming home on the highway when I was passing a Ford that had some guages on the pillar. I put the hammer down to pass him going 70 and my clutch let go, I had to let off and eek by him.

4. Smoke is almost a none issue, I can get a little stepping on it in 2nd but clears rapidly, it is not black smoke to begin with though. Maybe when I can turn the box on :D .

5. I am somewhat disappointed because Kirt told me I could bark it all day long if I wanted to and wouldn't hurt it. Well I haven't been able to bark it once yet and I have tried. My wife and I both love that sound. It does have a little whistle to it cruising down the highway, if you have the radio on you won't hear it though. I haven't towed yet, but I'll keep you posted.

I don't like to edit and I thought I should be a little clearer:

egt's were at 330F and fell to below 300 within 5 to 10 seconds.

After the 5-10 seconds the egt's were at 280F. Normally after highway driving I sit for 3 or 4 minutes waiting for the stock HX-35 to come down to 350F and I watch the temp drop 1degree at a time. The B1 cools very fast.

Also Kirt told me that the quick spool would spool up about as fast as the HX-35 since the B1 is obviously a bigger turbo. I find that it spools better than the stock turbo, not earth shatteringly faster, but slightly faster. The boost then takes off like mad compared to the stock building slowly to 6-8psi and then building up faster.

The whistle on the highway sounds like the big rigs turbine whine when you pass them, but to a lesser degree.

That's all I can think of for now.

The reason you are not barking the turbo is due to your clutch. When you are able to load the engine more you will find even better response from the turbo. Just wait until the clutch upgrade!

You can easily drive without barking or surging -- but the bigger your compressor wheel and the more responsive your turbo is at low rpm the more likely you will bark it.

Clutch, clutch clutch!!! Stay focused! :D
