I have been reading testimonials here about how the first B. O. M. B maybe should be the 3K gov. springs. Yesterday, I was running along a level road and shifted out of O/D. Unloaded, I was able to fuel right up to 2750 R. P. M. per the stock tach. What can the rest of you do in the same situation? I realize that if I had the fifth wheel on back, it might be different. Has anyone tried this for the same effect? My auto is 1:1 in third, so manual trans. can compare here. Will the new gov. springs be that different?

TIA

i will be getting the kit in short while. see my truck signature for my mods. we did the same thing just about to a 94 2500 4x4 regular cab on sunday. it has less power due to the pump, but he does have the 3000 gsk. he was running about a full second faster than me down the quarter mile. his pyro was also hitting 1400* whereas mine will only hit 1180* uphill in OD. that tells ya how much fuel is going through the top end (that'll really help with my stock auto!)

I dont get it

I have a 98 with no mods to governer and I can pull 3 k in any gear. Havent tried 5th.

Where are stockers supposed to stop reving.

the stockers usually start defueling around 2200-2400rpms. i can rev mine up to 3100 in park or neutral, but my 1st to 2nd gear shift has always been at 2800rpms. it seems that the autos have a more noticeable benefit due to the lousy stock torque converter.

I could get 2900-3000 rpm stock unloaded in all 5 gears stock unloaded, but around 2450rpm I could feel the governor kicking in. Pulling a trailer is where you will really notice the defueling. Before my 4K GSK I could barely hit 1350*F with the stock turbo & a #11 kit from TST. After the install I could easily peg the EGT gauge & slip the clutch in 4th & 5th. :--)

I later adjusted the governor lever & can now slip the clutch in all 5 gears. Recently I snapped the 8 bolts that hold the rear axle to the hub in 2st gear while pulling 23,650# up a small hill. :{ :D (I was told by PDR due to the way I adjusted the lever I am now fueling the same as a #4 plate)

ronco..... I have the 3K kit and you know how the truck just launches hard from about 1700-2200 when you really mash the throtle? well... . take that same feeling clear up to 3200 RPM+ and thats what you get!. Right now you are getting 2750 but its starting to defuel before then trust me! GSK rocks! :D best mod Ive bought so far!

and with the GSK you dont think about needing lockup O/D to get somplace ( I hit 83+ mph in (D)) I used to pray for lockup O/D so I could get some speed up heading out of town. now I just wish I that big black PSD would play! :D

Thanks Jim,
