Competition Pulling carnage at Muncie

On my way home yesterday I found myself being tailgated by a young kid in a porsche cayanne. The road opened up into two lanes and the kid makes a jerk move pass on the right. I didnt have enough time to flip on the box and get the turbo spooled to hold him off. As it got in front of me I saw that it was a turbo model. I followed him to the next light and lined up behind him as the was another car in the in the right lane. I only had the chance to build 5psi of boost before the light went green. He pulled 1 1/2 car lengths on me right from the start. Up to about 50 no one was gaining anything. I then locked up the converter and instantly closed the gap to about 3/4 of a car length. We stayed that way to the end. I am confident that in a side by side race I could of jumped him on the start with a 20+psi launch and held him behind me to over 100. I would love a re-match at the track. :D

Nice work! :D . The best i ever had was a new BMW Z8,we were going light to light, and that car was quick,he just conldnt get the traction with cold blacktop. Man he was ticked couldnt pass my heavy ,loud diesel, after trying 4 times he gave up. I dont know if I could have taken him from 60 up,it was pretty fast.

I had an '86 911 cabriolet with a Paxton supercharger on it that would have left you in the dust(about a third the weight you're pullin), man was that thing fun to drive. I could get her to a hundred in a block and a half, once pushed her to 160(still climbing before I ran out of road) and the power poles looked like a picket fence... Didn't keep her for long(couldn't afford it and I want to see the back side of 60), got rid of my Harley too... Man I miss those two machines... Now if I hit the lottery.....

MD, Sled, and Snow, tisk tisk, you are bad... Bad at making me want to go BOMB my truck more! Good stories. I wanna do that someday, *tears*, when I have money again!

I had a pretty fun weekend in Ocean City at the car show. Well, actually, the fun was on the ride home yesterday.

Had 5 races. An old camaro, old chevelle, new mustang gt (i think it was supercharged, at least i'm telling myself that so i don't feel as bad), another newer mustang gt, and a newer ford lighting.

4 out of 5 isn't bad. :D

If my injection pump wasn't on it's way out (or whatever has my truck running . 8 slower than it was last year) I think i could have been 5 for 5.

John, wish you were there when i was going against the lightning. We were side by side (started at about 20mph). i hit that lockup switch in third, and the race was over, kept pulling him even into o/d.

Too much fun.

And if anyone saw the posi marks that went from 6th street, all the way to 7th street... . i have no idea where they came from.

Later,

Chris

Kevin,

That's AWESOME! Where were you at? Somewhere on the Main Line? Those Main Line "I own the world" jerks really get on my nerves. I don't try to out run them, just get in front of them, then dump about 3 gallons of unburnt #2 into their pretty convertible.

Nice smoke show a week or so when you passed me at Rt. 30 and 202 intersection, by the way. :D I was headed on vacation and that made for a good start.

Dave

dave, Thanks for the compliment, I have the stacks back on so you cant miss me now!:D and yes it was a main liner!

Just for the record, I dont go out hunting for people to mess with but when someone is a total jerk I just cant help myself!!!!:D

PS: After that cayanne race I really feel the need for another hundred or so hp. Mmmmm..... twins... ... . ;)

KevinOo. :cool: Don't ya just Love it!:{

In about a month or so, I'm going to hit Cecil for another T&T. Probably on a Wed. evening. If we get there right at 5:00 when the gates open, you can get in 3 or 4 quick runs before all the ricers show up and slow things down! I'll give you a yell when I know the date.

John,

You'd be proud of me! I just installed a whole new fuel system and SX pump and... ..... a 2 stage nitrous system:D Boy... we're havin fun now!!!!!!

Scott,

Is Andy still going to put that pre Dyno day at Kauffmans to gether? If so, do you know about when? My wife and I are taking a 2 week vacation on the boat this summer and I hope its not the same time :{

A week ago here in Utah I had a fiesty Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 from a 10 mph street start to 100mph+ that could not pull away from me. . I wonder what they think when a tank can hang with these little rockets?

Porsche Cayanne Turbo

The marriage of all-wheel drive and turbo technology is not new at Porsche. In 1996, the Porsche 911 Turbo was the first street Porsche to transfer its incredible power to the road via all-wheel drive. Now, Porsche engineers have applied this advanced technological combination to the all new Cayenne to achieve a striking new level of sport utility vehicle performance and driving exhilaration.

On road or off <Bwaaahahaaha Yeah 95 GRAND off road, the new Cayenne Turbo is a resolute and masterful performer. The 4. 5-liter V8 produces a prodigious 450 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque for impressive acceleration.

Porsche Traction Management (PTM) uses permanent all-wheel drive to balance the power delivery between the front and rear wheels. Continuously adapting to changing road conditions, PTM ensures optimum traction and driving dynamics. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) monitors the forces acting on the Cayenne to help you maintain the ideal line through a corner. Additionally, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) continuously modifies the damping force on all four wheels to compensate for steering inputs and the nature of the road.

The self-leveling air suspension with ride height control, center differential and two-speed transfer case combine to offer exceptional off-pavement capabilities.

The result is a new type of automobile mixing genuine Porsche power and handling with unprecedented all-round versatility.

MD500E,

You must have a hell of a fast truck. I drove an '04 Cayenne Turbo today at work, and I thought it was extremely fast. It actually sounds good too. There are way too many buttons in the interior though. It had that nifty triptronic transmission, but if you didn’t use it, it would only shift out of first gear at 3500 rpm. And for what ever reason you have to put your foot on the break to start the thing:confused:

Well, my truck has been making this ticking sound ever since that little race. I got around to looking at it tonight and found a big crack in the exhaust manifold. Now I have to hurry to get my hands on a new ATS unit in time for Muncie!!!

I think the Cayenne's tested out in the magazines at 13. 50s with the turbo engine. And you never can tell about magazine vehicles. Sometimes they are ringers and fly and sometimes they are actually slower than what the average joe will run with the car.

What is it with Porsches?

I got one with my '94 out in front of Mike Dez Racing in RI with no launch... I honestly think he got out of it because he couldn't see anything ahead of him in his lane. :-laf

His girlfriend in the passenger seat was laughing at him, though.

Well, being an old "Main Line" boy myself, I know what you mean (raised in Gladwyne - parents still there, 35 years now), there are a lot of jerks out there.

I have seen more than a few Cayennes here in Chester County (Kevin and I only live a few miles from each other), but not alot of room for racing.

Kevin - where was this at? On 202 somewhere? Or the 30 bypass?
