JVD torque enhancer????

Just How Hot is to Hot for short intervals?

Looking for info on the Racor transmission filter. How/where does it install? Does it affect flow through coolers? Long term results? Considering upgrading the transmission and would like to protect my investment every way I can. So lets hear it... Pros and Cons.

Just be careful and make sure the filter has sufficient flow that does not hinder the overall system.

When I looked for a filter that would flow enough gph the filter was HUGE like 16" long and 6" diameter. I thought that was a bit large.

What about teeing into the cooler line and installing the filter in parallel? Basically using it as a bypass filter.

Back in the fall of 96, when I got mine new, I installed an inline, spin on filter for my transmission. I went to Tractor Supply, and bought a filter & housing made by Cross, and used on hydraulic systems. (about $20. 00 then) These are also used on hydraulic wood splitter return lines. It has big 3/4" in & out ports, a check valve, and a port for a temp sending unit. It filters down to 10 microns, and flows 20 gpm. I mounted it horizontally on the cross member behind the bumper, and spliced it into the hot side rubber line going into the cooler. I used 3/4" to 1/2" barb fittings, 3' of 1/2" transmission hose, & good, wide stainless hose clamps. Never had anything in the pan, & see temps in the 150-175 range at the filter housing. The same thing at a hot rod shop had little, restrictive 3/8" fittings, and was about 3 times higher.

I installed mine when I put my DTT trans in 20000miles ago

Extremely happy with the results, every time I service the trans, the pan is completely clean. I mounted mine behind the left side of the bumper on the support bracket that extends from the frame to the bumper corner near the rubber cooler lines its a covenient spot to trasition to the filter with some high temp hose. Merv:

So you are using the Racor? It doesn't look like many are using one based on the number of replys to the post. Do you use a temp probe in the housing? Daily driver? Notice any difference on before and after the install of trans temps? Looks to me like some good insurance for a great transmission.

Thanks for your reply.
