SA Law...

I have to re-affirm what sa law said about private lots. I was in one and doing a he**uva burnout with my 455 olds, and I got a nice "reckless operation on private property" ticket. It was worth 4 points vs. 6 for public property reckless op. (i was glad it was less as it put me at 11 points vs. 13 points the other way) I was 19 or 20 at the time and just started a job driving delivery. would have sucked to lose my license.

spinning your tires is a violation because it is known as a precursor to two or more vehicles racing, aka exhibition of speed. also, spinning your tires long enough will produce a smoke cloud that will inhibit the vision of others drivers( so the lawmakers say) and could lead to hazardous driving conditions. i personally only write that violation to young teenage drivers who are trying to impress someone w/their crappy mufflers:)

I see what you mean about the cloud of smoke and such but I got pulled over and received a ticket for spinning my tires for barely a second and a half. I pulled out and romped on it (in my old chevy gasser) and the tires squeled for, what the undercover cop said, a second and a half. I go to court, got my license pulled for 60 days and have the same amount of points on my license that a drunk driver would have on his! :{ To me this punishment doesnt fit the crime. What do you think  Oh this was in CA

Well here in Va. they are illlegal unfortunately and well the HP has a radar detector detector so for out of staters that come through even if its not plugged in, it will be picked up depending on what type, typically the higher priced more effective ones are the one's it pickes up... The best you can hope for around here is that when you meet smokey bear he doesn't have his radar on which with HP isn't going to happen as they run them all the time sitting, driving etc...

The CB and knowing where one sits for speed traps makes a person more alert and well with fuel prices now, 50mph isn't going to get me any tickets anytime soon. Im not sure why Va. has them outlawed, makes no sense as i can go over state lines and buy one anyways and use it running the interstate if i want with little chance of getting stopped with all the traffic

running the Interstates nowadays.

Reminds me of my younger years where I rode a 150' long wheelie from a stop sign and past the guard shack at Nellis AFB in Vegas. I never exceeded the speed limit so the ticket was for exhibition of power and the commanding officer wasn't happy.

Right! I wouldn't be too concerned with that claim, the ability to activate/identify unpowered circuits is far from common.

I could believe a detector for energized detectors, the rdr detector may produce some sort of identifiable pulse. Basically an IFF, the returning energy from the gun should be a set freq/pulse, any thing outside that triggers the detector unit on the gun.
