I Think the next BOMB I need for my truck is a good radar detector seeing I cant keep my foot out of the throttle!!:D

Does anyone know who make the best and sells for less:D :D

If you want the best, look at the Valentine One detector. You'll spend a little more than the crappy ones sold at Target -- the V1 will pay for itself fairly rapidly, if you drive like I drive. I have it mounted right below the rear view mirror, and have the remote display right above the ashtray.

There are no "bargains" available in radar detectors. The best one is Valentine One, and MANY of us in the TDR have them...

A "bargain" or "discount" radar detector will give you nowhere the range of protection that the V1 offers. When you consider the cost of points on your license, or losing it, and increased insurance rates, then the V1 looks like a bargain. They are ONLY available from the factory direct. Not available anywhere else.

I had an Escort. Always wanted a Valentine One. Soooooooo, I gave the Escort to my wife and ordered a V1. I love it! It does every thing but shift the gears. Not cheap, but worth every dime the first time it pulls your biscuits out of the fire. And it does that on a weekly basis. We run from here to PHX. (1021 miles) in 15 to 16 hours... ..... you do the math.

I did some research after creating this post. I looked in Car and Driver's chat room and most agreed that the Valentine One (V1) is the best out there. Thanks for Valentines web site, they are expensive. I may consider that one.

Has anyone seen the "Phantom II detector-jammer"? That one also looks interesting.

the valentine 1 does more than a 50,000$ system I had in a combat aircraft. Be careful with the false trust in jammers and

other detectors no matter how good they look and pricey they are

Bel-Tronics

I have a Bel, had it for seven years now, and haven't gotten caught since the day I bought it. Comes with life time warranty and if I want it upgraded I just send it to them and they upgrade it for me great customer service.

Just my choice,

Scott

r jammers

I to have a lead foot and found a site where I purchased a couple of jammers for radar and laser plus photo candid camera. I have not been stopped sence! In fact in racing anouther vehicle on the interstate when we blew by a tropper he got taged and not me. check out jammerstore.com :D

Devildog,

I don't know about the Phantom II, but I bought 2 of the Phantom 1, (one for my wife and one for me) THEY DON'T WORK! I tried to get my money back with no success. Shortly after, I read a article in Car & Driver that compared this type of "JAMMERS", the conclusion was that NONE of them worked! SAVE YOUR MONEY and BUY A VALENTINE! I have one, it is the BEST!

I had an older Uniden that worked OK but I thought it was time for a new one. Didn't do my homework like you guys are doing, bought a Cobra. It doesn't work as well as my old one. Range seems to be less and it goes into a "quiet" mode after about 5 seconds. Still beeps but I can't hear it. The old one would speed up as the radar source got closer, this one doesn't. Not happy with it and I waited too long to send it back. Will probably go back to the old one and put this one in the wife car or give to my son.

Hey guys here is a tip that I believe few people know about. The reflected signal from a laser gun is VERY weak. Unless you have a mirror facing forward on your truck laser is useless. You probably don't know it but you DO HAVE ONE if you have a front licence plate. The paint on the plate has crystals it it that send light back where it came from. This is how laser guns work. On my old truck I never had a front plate and got hit with a laser gun at least 4 times going 75 in a 65 and never got a ticket while others around me got pulled over for going exactly the same speed. Even without a front plate there is a small chance you will get caught but only at extreemly close range. In Utah they require a front plate so all I will do when I register my new truck is paint over the plate so that it looks the same but it no longer reflects the way it did. If you have a laser pointer take it outside at night and point it at some licence plates and road signs. You will see what I mean. If you don't have a laser pointer use a flash light, it might work but not nearly as well. Good luck --Chris A
