Was wondering if anyone out there knows where I can get a radiator cover. Went to the dealer yesterday to see if they would have it only to be told that there's no such thing. #ad
I know Phord makes a front radiator cover for there diesels, but does dodge???? I'm sick of my truck taking forever to heat up and at idle cooling down.

Dodge does have a front cover made for the Ram. I know because I have one and got at a DC parts dept. You must leave open about 10% of the cover on the driver's side to allow for the intercooler. I personally like the cover and it does the job.

I intially used the Lund Cold Front, but it is a chore to keep up with and I worried about breaking its clips or the grille itself installing and removing it.

I NOW HAVE MARY ANN GETTMAN'S COLD MASK.
GREAT PRODUCT, INSTALL IT, ROLL IT UP WHEN YOU DON'T NEED IT! DOES A FINE JOB!

Thx to the guys that previously suggested this product in the face of me touting the Lund Product, The Gettman is much easier to live with.

As for the Dodge Parts item, it is far more expensive than either of the aforementioned items.

Good Luck.

The front cover is great, but a little high priced at $96. 00 retail. Talk to your parts guy, I got mine for $70. 00 (his cost).

More than both the lund and gettman together. . and I wonder if the DC part will fit sports?

Good Luck

Max

Ps. Thx for the Pic Post, I haven't seen one yet... in general winter masks aren't popular in my part of the country, on light trucks any way.

Just get a piece of cardboard as big as your radiator cut a 10" round hole in the center and slip it between the raditor and intercooler. Leave enough extra cardboard at the top to get a grip on it when you want to remove it.
This idea is patented, you will need to send $20 to my email address above #ad

Geez, never heard of a "winter front"? What a parts guy you found! FIA makes a truly excellent unit which doubles as a summer bug screen. It was about $60. 00. There is no need to expose 10% of the front grille to air flow. The opening in the bumper flows air right through the radiator. I keep mine fully closed even on fifty degree days without any problem in cooling. See Checker or Champion auto parts for FIA stuff. P. S. the FIA has a velcroed opening at the top if it does tend to heat up a bit.

I use the Lund grill covers. The clips can be a problem. To leave some exposed area, I used a hole saw and drilled a couple one inch holes in each of the 4 covers.

I also use the Gettman cold front. I used it all last winter, rolled it up for the summer, and it's been back down since early December. Great product and won't mess up your paint job on the truck (like the mopar one), it's totally invisible as it's under the hood.

Dieselman,
welcome aboard,I see its your first post, you will love it here these guys are great #ad

I use the lund cold front and I have also removed my fan altogether, truck warms up alot faster and mpg has improved,I was watching my temp the other day going to work,it was around 0 outside and my thermostate didnt open till I got about 5 miles out of town, this tells me I have plenty of cooling, probably wont pull the lunds until may, dont want to put the fan back on till I have to but would just as soon install a horton fan, will wait and see how things look when it warms up.

I'm with Illflem on this one. Cardboard is cheap and effective!

Diesalmann, I have some pictures of the Gettmann Cold Front if your interested. You'll have to email me as I don't know how to get the pictures attached on this thread.

I saw that chainsaw and immediately thought the post was from Chad Sheets. #ad

Bill, my check is in the mail (although it is underwritten by the bank of BF Goodrich)... . please no chainsaw. #ad

Mopar has been selling their cold front since at least '97. Several members that have had one installed experienced paint problems due to water/foreign material entrapment. Not good!

Just another opinion - you really dont want to block the flow of air to the intercooler. When I did the front cover my mpg went down. After doing the Expensive CARDboard (r) trick AFTER the intercooler and before the radiator, got my miles back up. Just another thing to cuss out... ..... #ad

I agree with Ben Stair when using the Dodge cold front. Mix of around town and highway driving I saw no difference in fuel mileage. Straight highway driving I lost 2-3 mpg - even with the front wide open. Also, the velcro that holds edges under the hood only lasted three installs. It looks nice on the truck but I like it better gathering dust in the garage.

Also if you have a bug deflector you will have to remove it in order to use the Dodge winter front, not that there's any bugs that time of year but it's a PITA.

Probally belongs in the classifieds, but I have (2) factory cold fronts (1) N. I. B. , from a 94. I assume it will fit to modern production. Email me an offer.
