Recently, I was in the process of lowering my coolant's freezing point (it gets cold up here) when I ran into a problem with my radiator drain petcock - it was leaking when I closed it, only a drip, but more than enough to cause problems. Luckily, I was at my shop while performing this little adventure in maintenance so I quickly ran (local Dodge dealer was closing in twenty minutes) to a computer to check AllData for a replacement part number... . no luck. So, I come to our site and search the forums. Apparently, I am not the only one with this problem. Many people posted with problems, and many people responded saying "Get a replacement o-ring. " Well, that is an excellent idea however, no one bothered to post part numbers or sizes that worked for them.
I just want to help my fellow TDR members that may one night at about 2 AM be servicing their truck only to develop a new leak. I was able to use a 14mm x 2. 5mm o-ring to stop my leak dead in it's tracks. If someone else out there has P/N's or size that worked for them, if they could post it on this thread I think many owners could buy that $0. 25 o-ring before their truck is leaking coolant all over the place.
Sorry for being so long-winded, happy cooling system maintenance,
Ben
