radiator to fan clearance

Need a little help if possible. Can anyone please measure the clearance between the back of the radiator to the edge of the fanblade on a D250 (1991-1993)? I just want to compare mine to others and make sure my distance is the same. I think mine looks like 2" at best.



I've been told that the fan can be removed w/o removing the shroud and/or radiator. But I don't see how. I could on my 1999... but it wasn't easy. And the 99 had alot more clearance from what I remember. Once the fan is loose... its an awkward and heavy deal and I don't see how I can do this without contacting the row fins.

I don't have to go measure mine to tell you that you won't be able to get the fan out with the shroud in place. FSM says to loosen shroud, set to rear, loosen fan and remove both together.

You will have to loosen the shroud to pull the fan - been there and done this when replacing the fan clutch assembly.
