Radio issue

During the winter months where the temp is around 40 & below my radio doesn't come on until the truck get's warmer, after that it is OK. Any idea's?

Sounds like the cold is causing a connecting to not make contact in a harness plug. I'd recommend finding the harness for the radio and make sure the connecting is solid. If that's not it, I'd check the fuse wires for the radio.

Solder joint on a circuit board shrinking and opening up? I seem to recall that even the space program had issues with a satellite when they switched from lead to non-lead solder.

Take this as an opportunity to buy a double DIN kit and a decent radio and replace it.

I still have the old AM/FM/Cassette radio (and I don't listen to the radio anyhow) but I did make a cell phone holder that fits in the cassette slot. Its a little bouncy but works quite well. I didn't want any holes or glue on the inside of the truck, and wanted it up where I could see it and not need to look downward to see it.

Thanks for the info; I suspected the same type of issue but was hoping it was something that could be a quick fix. Now today (Mon) the truck has been sitting since early Sun morning and the radio came on as soon as I turned the key but my overhead temp console said it was 51 outside so it was warm out. We are having El Nino this winter but last week like the rest of the country it was very cold here for several days but now is warming & that means we will be having Rain for the rest of the week. I will have to check out your suggestions. I normally listen to 2 stations only and they are conservative so this radio does the trick. Thanks again
