I have 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and I love the diesel. 101,000 miles and still going strong. I don't have a problem with the engine but I do with my radio. I have the Infinity and when I turn the volume down it goes up and when I when I turn the volume up it goes down or no sound. I have to keep turning the volume knob in the up position to get any sound. Also, the left door speaker stopped working the same time I started haveing problems the volume.

Has anybody had this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunatly this is posted in the 1st Gen Forum so we don't have the same type of trucks, nor radios. Try reposting in the 2nd Gen Forum under the no engine and drivetrain. They have more experience with trucks like yours. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Paul.

The left door speaker is what is causing your problems. It contains the amp for all of the left side speakers. There is a short in it and the protection circuit and programming in the radio are turning down power output to the speakers to keep the radio from burning up. Replaced more than a few of these when I was working as a tech at the local dealer. The new speaker comes with a water shield and mounts inverted from what the original does(instructions are in the box). Hold on to you wallet, there definetely not cheap.

Sometimes it's good to post things in the wrong place:D . You get more exposure that way.
