2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Radio problems

My 96 radio has been acting up. It seems like the power cuts out. I replaced it with a new radio and still the same problem. Anyone have the same problem or any ideas?? marc

Funny you should mention that. Mine has intermittent BAD static - sounds like something ripping - in the right side speaker/s, Infinity system. The whole thing doesn't cut out, just the right side. If I turn the R/L balance to all L it's clear as a bell (of course, stupid ) but who likes to listen lopsided? I've just sort of put up with it for a year but it'd be nice for it to be gone. Sounds like you have 2X my problem.

Firemanmarc, Does it cut out when you turn the volume up? If so, it sounds like a dead short in a wire that runs between the head unit and the speaker or a speaker itself.
