Train Horn Question

Hey all, wondering if any of you have had this issue before. This is the second time it's happened to me. Remote started the truck this morning, mid 30s temperature wise, started right up, let it run maybe five to ten minutes while I got dressed/work stuff together. Walk out and get in, start the truck from the push button, and get my phone ready to hook up with Android auto app. Plug the USB cord into truck and phone. It connects but the radio volume is stuck on three. It won't let me switch between am/fm/Sirius. It's stuck on Sirius XM. Can change XM channels though. Everything else appears normal with the truck. I plan on seeing what happens after three if I go out and try again. I'm working a 16 hr shift today so I need to wait for the boss to leave before I play around with the truck. Thanks for any input guys.

Not sure if this is it, but I believe when the truck does an over the air update, there are gremlins until the truck is started and shut down. My 5500 locked heated seats on high and wouldn't turn off. I pulled over, shut the truck off, restarted it, and all is well. Don't you know two Ford and a Chevy guy were in the truck. My wife's 2019 1500 the audio was locked on the Sirius advertisement channel... couldn't change source or channel until were restarted the truck.

I'll bet it's good when you start it after work today. Let us know.

I drove maybe 3-4 miles and thought the same sag, I stopped put her in park, shut her down, waited maybe a minute or two, then started back up. Still locked. Was still locked when I pulled into work about 15-17 miles and 15 minutes later. I'm really hoping it was just a fluke/glitch and it'll be fine when I jumped in to move it after 3pm. I will let you all know what happens though. Maybe an issue going from negatives temps overnight for three or four days and then a warmer 30-almost 40 degrees this morning? I don't see how or why that should matter but with everything on these trucks who knows?

The radio may not have gone to sleep with a short shut down. If your in a hurry, you might want to locate the radio fuse and pop it out for a second. That will reboot it for sure.

I've had the radio freeze on a station and it won't change stations or settings. Hasn't happened in a long time. It hapoened about 5 times in 5 years

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate them, this forum is a wealth of knowledge that I couldn't even fathom knowing. The problem seems to have sorted itself out. I jumped in it to move it closer to the building and everything functions normally now. Maybe it just needed a reset and some time to sit/sleep.

As NEWSA mentions, I have had some situations where the dash (not just the radio but all digital dash functions - on my '14 Laramie) will fail to respond to a screen or button push after starting and for a few minutes or about a half mile of travel. This is a significant issue for me as it has sometimes been the case that I cannot enable the Tow/Haul mode until I have already driven away - with my trailer attached. Might not normally be a huge deal but I park the trailer at my house on a fairly steep grade and I hate to pull away from a cold start without at least telling the transmission (by setting Tow/Haul) that I have a 12,000lb trailer attached! I've done all the updates and flashes but never been able to get rid of the problem.

Equally annoying is that if I was running with the radio up loud when I parked, it blares at me when I restart and I can't turn it down. Be careful if you're listening to Outlaw Country and next time you start up your kids are in the car! LOL!

You've got to love the Microsoft based operating system in our trucks. Just like my home computer some days it work awesome. Some days it'll forget to turn stuff on or start working from page 3 or 6 when it should start up on page 1. I've had days where my truck will start with No Radio. Other days the radio works but half the switches on the dash do not work. Or the engine brake will not turn on. Sometime the fix is just lock and un lock the doors. sometimes the only fix is to shut down the truck and wait 10 min then re start it. I've had days where I've unlocked the doors with the remote and nothing turns on. Dash is dead everything except for the inside cab lamps are dead. It will not start. only way to get it to go is to keep cycling the lock unlock on the key fob until it "Wakes up"
God I so miss the Pre Computer days.....
