I'm still around, just busy.....

What are the odds?

Sounds like you guys need some bigger pets. Or at least carry a gun when you take them for walks... o_O

I used to have a dog that was so bad ass that no wild animals around here would have stood a chance. Loved that pup, but his sidekick is still around, only about 20 pounds and smart as a whip. He's not dumb enough to let the shady outsiders get him.

When did they eradicate the C5A size mosquitoes ?

Well now that you’ve brought it up I have a story (of course!)....

We had the pleasure of getting a new next door neighbor two years ago, great guy!! Couldn’t have custom ordered better..

Last year we noticed a crew over there spraying something from gasoline powered backpack sprayers. When they left I noticed the equipment trailer said “Mosquito Man, environmentally friendly bug control”
Well we noticed a remarkable reduction in mosquitos and black flies right off quick.
Nature sends out Dragonflies which reduce the little varmints but you still have that hour before sunset where the mosquitos want all the blood you can spare. Of course that’s the only time you get to be outside during the work week.
After the drastic reduction of these mosquitos last summer we decided it wasn’t very neighborly to enjoy our outside time while sucking up the benefits of him paying for the treatment.
We got pricing this spring and signed up as well. I believe it is $500.00 for the season and they come five times. Right after it rains, they won’t spray if rain is forecast.

It is incredible, I can be out in the dark with just a trouble light on and I might get bit once. Before the spray I would have been covered in bites. It also knocks the ticks down.

We will continue the service for the upcoming summers, it is worth every dime. With both he and I having it done we created a pretty much bug free zone.

I thought that we'd have more skeeeters than we do, I think that living in the middle of a farming area, the use of pesticides on crops could have lots to do with it. I also didn't know that we have as many bats as we do.

Living on base at Loring AFB they had what amounted to a mobile smudge pot a Duce and a half loaded with 55 gal drums with what I was told filled with diesel & used oil set afire and choked down to create MASSIVE amounts of black smoke driven around the base. Bet Big Al & the EPA would have liked that idea.

They had a cover story if anyone asked about it. "We had a few B-52's taking off", that would cover it.

I was checking weather on weather underground and I have Limestone on the watch list and noticed a warning. So I clicked it and guess what came up, at least they still have it listed as Loring AFB.
