Ever see the chariot race in Ben Hur... ?

Young kid in a small Mazda tried to occupy the space I was in as we entered a freeway onramp. Came into my lane and right into the side of the Ram and bounced off, spun and ended up facing oncoming traffic on the shoulder. I swerved a bit and pulled over safely. Best of all, nobody hurt.

Side of his car looked like a giant grinding wheel went at it from the driver's door back. Large round circles of tire rubber and scratches. I had a tiny little scuff on my bumper, and two small scratches on the side. Looks like my hubcap and tire did most of the work. The nerf bars on the side probably helped, too.

I'm guessing we'll work something out rather than deal with the insurance company. My damage is pretty minor, and I was a goofy teenager once. He got the brunt of the crunch in his car.

I had a similar experience. Kid in a small honda wasn't paying attention to the cars stopping to turn in front of him, nor did he realize there was my truck driving beside him, so he tried to jerk over into my lane, only for his front fender to get ripped to shreds by my wheel. Glad no one was hurt.

Back in May I had an elderly woman put a dent in the right side of my bed. I was in the left lane and she was coming off an on ramp. I pulled to a stop at a stop light only to turn and see her coming straight for me. I jerked my truck into the oncoming traffic lane but she got me anyway. She then had the gall to say it was my fault. Fortunately her insurance company saw it my way.

Got the truck washed today (it's been a couple months) and took a closer look. The side of the tire is chomped on a bit, and the hubcap has some scratches. The two scratches on the door could probably be buffed out, they're pretty small. The only real damage is a 5x5 scuff on the side of the front bumper. I thought it was his paint, but it took the paint off me. Two shops said $1100 bucks to fix it. I'd rather put some $ towards an aftermarket bumper. The tires are cut up from Baja and have 55k so far. We'll see, but I think the kid lucked out. I can't in good conscience stick him with that...

Had a lady pass me as I was stopping for a traffic light in Chattanooga, I was in center of 3 lane south bound, and as the light turned yellow she whipped to my left and went by me after the light turned red, and she broad sided a S15 pick up - - -old guy driving the P/U was dazed but she was full of pi$$ and vinegar and jumped out of he car screaming "I caused her to have an accident by stopping on the yellow". Ya', (Tennesseean's rarely stop on yellow) The cop that was behind the P/U saw it a little differently. said if she didn't sit down and shut up, she was going to jail.

The gall of that broad - - I caused he to have an accident!!!

Nearly rearranged the side of a Toyota Highlander today that tried to join me in my lane while merging onto the highway. He was paying no attention whatsoever and made no attempts to get in behind or ahead of me. I was pulling a trailer and had traffic to my left. . . nowhere to go. The moron suddenly panics and locks 'em all up at the last second, I had to get on the binders and swerve to miss him.

Speaking of old ladies, one time I was at a bank drive-through, and an old lady was in the next lane driving a Taurus. A young guy on a Ninja motorcycle pulls up behind her to wait his turn. When she was finished, we could hear her reving her engine as she tried to pull away, but her car wasn't moving. Sure enough, she had it in park, and you can guess what happened next; she pulled on the gearshift while she was revving the engine. Her car slammed backwards into the guy on the motorcycle, and he was thrown off. Fortunately he wasn't hurt, but his brand new bike was totaled. The old lady just sat there dazed until we told her to shut off her car. It's was surreal watching it happen, almost like it was in slow motion.

This is all too common when pulling our 5th wheel. I've had cars come up the on ramp, timing their acceleration to shoot for the gap behind our truck - only to find it occupied by a 36' 5th wheel! Maybe it's just me, but for the life of me I don't see how one cannot see a 36' 5th wheel RV!

This last winter a U-Haul van (big one) hit a road grader rolling the snow that was in the ditch farther out (grader was stradling the white line). Clear day, dry road, straight road. How that idiot didn't see a slow moving cat YELLOW grader with all sorts of blinking lights on it is beyond me. And he hit it hard. The van was destroyed. The grader maybe needed some new sheet metal on the engine cowling.

This goes along with people rear ending school busses.
