Ram 1500 to get diesels in late 2013?

AFAIK, the hemi also has dual ignition. On early versions, each double-legged coil shared a wasted spark with a cylinder 360* away in the firing order, so that if a coil went bad, all cylinders would still fire. I don't know if this is still done on later versions.



they are thru atleast 05... . this one also has two compression bent connecting rods, indicating that it unsuccessfully attempted to compress some liquid... probably antifreeze... :eek::eek:
 
Diesel Power Magazine sent me a feed on Facebook showing a 1500 with a soot stain above the exhaust pipe. It was a "spy photo. "
 
If it shows a soot stain, I wouldn't give it much credibility. Soot stains ended in 2007. It could also be a modded gasser which can still produce the stain you're referring to.
 
Well. it wasnt hydro-lock that bent the HEMI rod. . it was a flaw in the 03-05 model HEMI conecting rods that apparently Chrysler knows about... !!! Sometimes they just bend over like this one did, but other times, they break causing a complete engine failure. Usually happen at or above 100K miles
 
ok, got a question. . wasnt it banks a couple of years ago that sold out to GM and referred to the Cummins as "its ok if for an old technology tractor motor"

So now, Banks is feeding from the same trough as Cummins/Ram/Fiat??. .

Could have been a result of the Teutonic influence of that era. The 3. 5 litre diesel used in the later Mercedes SDL's was known as the "rod bender".
 
The 345 or 5. 7L Hemi is AWFULLY close to being a Hemispherical combustion chambered engine... . Dual Rocker shafts, centered sparkplug, center crowned piston... . not sure what else it needs to be considered a hemi...

Harvey, the 6. 7L that my buddy owns is not a Cummins powered Ram, its a Scorpion powered 2012 Ford F250... sorry, thought I already made that clear, if I didn't, I apologize...

I still do not believe that a properly geared 3/4 ton gasser would get much worse than his truck is getting while pulling the same load... .
You would be correct on the gearing thing. . A good friend of mine had the last year model of the 8. 1 gm gasser and 3. 73 gears. . Empty he could get 14mpg highway[driveing with good sense]. Load a cab tractor on a gooseneck, [about 7tons] and he would get 7/8mpg. It pulled the load very well i might add. . Folks cant expect a truck with highway gears to get good mileage when loaded. . transmission ratio's, axle ratio's, weight of vehicle, and speeds, all play a factor in mpg and performance. . Sometimes even when there's no load on them, a truck with highway gears can get better fuel mileage running in direct drive as opposed to od. .
