It should be noted that is simply adding "helper" airbags, which is completely different than the factory system. They will help with ride somewhat, but not like a true air ride system will.

A system similar to factory such as a 4-tec or a Kelderman will cost 3-5,000 installed.

Honestly, if you really want the air ride suspension, be patient and wait for the factory to produce them. I'm seriously considering trading my '13 in on a mid year '14. By the time you factor in the sure to be incentives and all mid year, I'm sure I can trade up cheaper than installing a Kelderman.

TDC airbags have been avoided by commercial Manufactures for decades, I am sure it will ride better (Rams systems) I'm personally will be waiting, I don't think the single leaf will be strong enough for My liking. All commercial system's are Front/Rear Bags or Rear with cam arms, None are TDC.

I looked at Kelderman it's the best there is, But $4K for I wanted, I just could not justify the cost.

I always added leafs to my prior trucks (many) No one had the extra leaf for the 6102 spring 2013. You can add them to the 6101 DRW spring. I don't know if super spring has released anything for the 2013 SRW 6102 yet.

Thanks AH64ID, hadn't considered that. It's interesting to note that the 3500 C&C is only available with 17" tires. Seems like a waste to spend that much money for a C&C and be limited to what two 17" tires will carry on each axle. The body builders guide lists 17" wheels only for D2 and DD. Might just as well get a 2500 if your going to use it for towing or hauling. I guess a service truck might be able to stay within the 6800 lb rear axle limit if they don't carry much. Not sure what other applications would work and stay within those numbers. Ken Irwin

It is an OEM option on the 3500 C&C.

Back on topic. Why is it that some dealers can order one and others can't. I'm looking at 13 vs 14 and the transmission is one thing that was making me lean to the 14. So I call my local dealer and ask about it. Truck manager (who understands what I want) looks on the computer and says only available with DRW in all trim levels. Now I'm looking on line and Im finding left over 13's for 10 grand cheaper than 14's on the same lot. what to do what to do?

If I purchase my 2014 without air suspension, what would be a fair cost for parts and install?
With just air bags as suspension, What happens when you are towing and get a leak??, i used to have a lincoln mark VII with air bag only system and i blew out a tire and it took out the air bag on that side, back then it cost 400. 00 to replace, just a thought before you order one, Monte

Yes... very strange that 1 day you can order a srw with aisin and the next day only drw with aisin. I think it goes to part availability.

Semis, buses, delivery trucks, etc. have been using airbags only suspension for many years. Not really much to worry about. Sure it can happen, just like your leaf spring can break in half. I've seen it happen.

The vehicles you stated above are vehicles with industrial strength bags under them, Not produced for 1 ton trucks like we drive, anyway in my opinion i would rather have a backup and i do on mine, Have a good day, Monte

I believe the lack of Aisin's for the SRW 2014's is due to parts availability. Dealers buyer informed me today that Aisin only available with DRW if I tried to order one. We found a 2014 3500 Big Horn SRW w/Aisin at another dealers lot today that I just purchased. Aisin's with SRW getting hard to find! 2013 or 2014
