Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Ram Air and Bug deflector's

OK brainiacs, if I put a bug deflector on my truck how will it effect air going into the hood? I assume it could have dramatic effect being that the bug shield is so close to the inlet. I cannot live with the bugs on my way to work though, I hit hundreds everyday and its irritating the crap out of me. Give me your opinions or experiences.

I think it could have quite an effect on the ram air. A friend of mine has a pipe rack on his truck. When he put a moulded bug guard on it the wind started really started buffeting the rack.
