Ram being towed by motorhome

I work with a guy that is going to buy a new Dodge diesel. He is going to be towing the truck behind his motor home (I suggested the other way around) and wants to know if an automatic 4x4 truck can be safely towed with the transfer case in neutral. Or should he get a manual transmission??

i would say manual transmission... but that is only cuz that is what i would want in a truck. whats going to be the difference between towing an auto vs. a manual? nothing.



but let me know when he sells it as that truck will have been on a trailer all its life and will probably have 3k on it in 3 years ... and probably a butt load of rock chips

As long as the transfer case is in neutral, he will be just fine with an auto.
