Ram front bumpers-Are they secure?

This might sound like a weird but I've noticed many new Rams with their front bumper fallen off. I've seen new trucks with this problem. This has been seen on the drivers side. It looks like the clips that hold the top moulding pop off. The bumpers themselves look crooked. Is there a recall on this and or have you seen this yourself. Joe:confused

When i installed my bumper guard my stock bumper semed to be fine. It looks like a decent mounting setup

I have not seen a single Ram with out/misaligned bumper. I have had mine off 3 times (in process of building a bumper with winch mount). The bumper is held on by 6 about 7/16 bolts plus a brace on each side. Mine is an '01; Looks plenty secure to me.

Dezzul1 is mostly correct about the bumper--it is mounted securely, but it is really light weight. I did not weigh mine, but packing it around with one hand like a suitcase is no strain.

Which means, unfortunatly, that my selfmade bumper with warn winch will weigh many times more.

I can only imagine that with all the creased OEM fronts out there, the dress pieces are secured as minimally at the bumper is designed, as I recall in removing mine the plastic is clipped in and I'll bet these clips ozonize and snap. Oh Yes, I was removing mine BECAUSE it was hit at low speed by a Mercury Villager. The villager won (broken lamp lense] the bumper lost. Actually, having the bumper fall off would eliminate disassembly when installing a real bumper

If someone was to vandalize my bumpers, would my comprehensive cover it? What if the front one fell off and I accidentally ran over it?

I have owned 4 Dodge pu's all with the Cummins. Everyone of them had a bumper replacement installed. The factory bumper is the weakest piece of the entire vehicle. I live in deer country, one deer on a factory bumper will most likely destroy the grill, bumper, intercooler, a/c condenser, and possibly the hood and fender. Pay a big deductible and drive a rental for a month while your rig gets fixed, I don't think so. Here in Texas you can get about 15 different brands of front end replacements. I buy mine from Rough Country in Ballinger. Very stout and very reasonable. Much better value than a ranchand. If you are interested let me know.

I like mine

It's made by Brown's Welding and Manufacturing. They don't have a website or even e-mail for that fact, but they make one helluva bumper at a reasonable price.

They do not have link. However, I will see if I can get a brocure and then scan the pics and put them on line. Will probably be Monday before I can get it all done. These guys supply a lot of the pickup outfitter type places around the state. They do not exactly cater to individuals, so I usually have to wait about 3wks to get something. But I don't mind when I can save $200 or more.

gitchesum, NICE BUMPER!! what does something like that run? You wouldnt think of deer when you hear New Jersey, but we have a lot where I am. I know if I hit even a small fawn, it would be total devistation @ 65 mph.

Chace, that would be great if you could scan a brochure.
