Bill, the max gvwr is clearly now at 14000. Check out this chart, shows payloads also. http://blogs. cars.com/files/1-ram-3500-towing-2013_01-08-13-33.pdf It shows that the SRW is available with the Aisin as well. I believe the link is an attachment from the press release.

Here is the full story, scroll down to the links http://news. pickuptrucks.com/2013/01/2013-ram-hd-the-king-of-towing-at-30000-lbs.html

I think a new 3500 would haul my AF990 just fine, I should get ordering priority because I've been waiting the longest !!!!!

Yep, instead of 600-lbs over my present truck's GVWR, with a '13 Ram 3500 dually, I'd be over 1500-lbs UNDER the GVWR. I've been hauling Lance truck campers off and on since 1986 and never been under the truck's GVWR.

Are you going to need a CDL to own and operate one of these rigs???

No, not if you are only hauling your own trailer or camper not hauling for hire.

Some states like my own state of Texas do require a Class A Operator's License for heavy private hauling. The license exam covers the same material as the CDL Class A but does not require the driving exam last time I read it.

I browsed the new Ram weight and towing charts linked in another post. I'm genuinely impressed with what the new truck division manager, Fred Diaz has done here. He must have a real understanding of the light truck market, how owners use their trucks, and the true capability of the Ram platform and the Cummins engine.

Ram now seems to understand what many thousands of us have understood for years.

Congratulations Fred Diaz, management and staff of Ram truck, and corporate bean counters.

Having said that, I'm impressed but don't think there is a chance that I'll buy one.
