Yes, it is too bad DC has thier head in the sand. Maybe they do not have head in sand, it might be in a keg of beer!

When we were kids dad had a ramcharger, I would rather have one than a truck...

Her dream vehicle.

Where, how can I get one of these in the States? Or is this like a Cummins powered margarita mixer? No offense, CCahill. This would be exactly what my wife is looking for, Ramcharger w/Cummins.

One where I live

I have seen one of these in this area a couple times. Pretty good looking rig. I certainly did a double-take when I saw it!

I am sure it made its way up here from Mexico since there is a huge Hispanic population here.

colin I service one of them on a regular basis

they are different... ..... 0 airbags... ... i think different crash standards too

Those Ramcharger come straight out of Mexico.

The Engine options are the 318 or the 360 motor, and I have never seen a 4wd version (Unless the are IFS on 4wd)

They are nice inside,, but if you thought it was ard getting into a QC, the back seat is even harder to get into,,, or atleast a little more clumbsy to get into. They are quick. But look they handle a little "loose" at times.

They look to cool though. A cummins would make them handle crazy,, way to much weight on the nose.

To put that much weight up front they should be about 2-3 feet longer.

So when is Dodge gonna make a Suburban/Excursion fighter??

Tired of watching Diesel Suburbans with Blow up Box Diesels puttin' around, and the PSD Excursions look awesome with 6" suspension lifts and BIG tires. (Talk about looking up to 'em) Dodge??

my first "car" was a 1990 ramcharger, 2wd. I still have it (anyone wanna buy? :))... I love that ol girl...

I waited and waited and waited for them to make the new ramchargers available in the states, finally gave up :(. Oh well, I have my 2500, so I'm happy Oo.

new Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Saw this blurb in the latest Petersen's 4wheel & Off-Road (Mar'02).

"The '03 SUV market may see a fullsize Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Based on the Ram platform, the Wag may be designed to pack a fullsize punch in the face of big SUV competitors like the Expedition and Suburban"

Maybe I'm reading way too far into this, but if it competes with the Suburban and is based on the Ram platform, doesn't that give the remote possibility of a Cummins powered SUV? I won't hold my breath yet, but OH THE POSSIBILITIES!!

One of our employees in our El Paso terminal has one like the one above in the pic except his is a Flame Red Sport,,As stated above it is a loose cannon on the road, kind swims a little to me and its a 360,,Plenty of power but no 4x4 option according to him,,The lack of airbags to me is not a big deal to me they are sweet rides just need a little fine tuning thats all,,Thing that gets my goat is they have a full size crewcab 4 door available Ram in a 4500 series, complete with a Cummins option, but we can not get one,,Nice they think of us isn't it especially on the heels of DC's latest debacle of their newly released "crewcab"(ha ha ha ha) truck,,Give me a break,,They already have two of the sweetest rides being made and they are available to the Mexican market only,,Import them you say, looked into it,can not be done due to "different safety standards" as all imported vehicles must conform to our standards here or no import. .

Ressurected from the archive... (last post was Feb 2002, then my post here).

I spotted one of these Dodge Ramchargers in my home town here north of Houston.

Didn't get close enough to see what the plate was (US or MX). And of course didn't have my camera.

Interesting looking vehicle though. I did a search here in the TDR forums and dug up this discussion. When I spotted it the other day I figured it was a MEX only vehicle or a really well executed mod of a 2nd gen pickup.

The border patrol down in Las Cruces has one. My cousin also got one. they were confiscated. My cousin had to get a dash out of a american truck (for airbags) and put in saftey glass. He was able to somehow register it here in NM. They ahve the durango/caravan rear door hatch. His is converted to 4-wheel drive, but it was also recently rolled. too bad.

Yes. I believe they only come 1/2 ton, 2-wheel drive. Never seen a 5-speed either, but I think that is because all I have seen is 360's and you couldnt get a 360/5-speed in a 1/2 ton.

Cummins Powered Ramcharger

This is the TDR! Just make one! I did it to a 1985 Ramcharger in 1991 (160 HP motor). About $30K for the conversion but she gets a lot of comments and does turn some heads. If I could figure out, how I'd post a picture but I'm computer illiterate. I've got 117K since the conversion and she's still going strong. Ken Irwin

I have heard that one of the reasons that DC didn't offer a crew cab or a full size SUV had to do with the govt bailout a while back. Too bad for them. Went with an Expedition for my wife; couldn't wait any longer for DC to build what I want!
