Saw a advertisement for new 3500 Ram Van and suspect engine choices (not given) will be the new V6 diesel or gas versions with the new 8spd auto.
Was picking up yet another truck from transmission shop (2000 with blown cooler line that driver "thought" he could get home with) Well he did that, at cost of another transmission

Aside from that, our transmission guy was commenting on huge problems with the new 8spd. He does all transmission work for a local Dodge dealer. Parts are B/O with no ship date. He said there are 7000 BO in system
(sounds high but??)
Said that there is a shortage for new vehicles as this transmission is supposed to be used by other brands also (not clear which). Ram has apparently been doing programming in house and this is where a LOT of issues are stemming from, aside from the electric solenoid for park pin that won't release if you park on a hill without a pull to release stress.
Anyone heard any issues? , this is first I had heard or read of any problems. His advice was stay far far away at least for now.
