Rear brake adjustment nightmare (and question)

I'm in the process of putting my c/b back in my truck. I didn't want to put the antena in the box. I will be instaling them on the side view mirrors on the doors.

I pulled the driver side mirror off. Loosen the three nuts to acheive this.

Next I had to drill a hole in the lower left corner behind the mirror housing on the door. It will require a hole a little bigger than the coax connection plug.

Then I made a notch in the bottom of the mirror housing. Just big enough so the coax will fit nice and snug. (die grinder works exellent for this).

Now run coax in the door to the hole that was drilled. Get the mirror and hold it to its normal position. Run that coax through the notch. Now install mirror putting 3 nuts back on.

All you will barely see is about 2 to 3 inches of coax cable.

I have not yet bought a mount for the antena that will go on the shaft on the side mirror. I'm geussing I will have to run a ground wire to the mount?

As far as antena. I only want a 2 footer that is skinny. That will help keep the mirror from wiggiling too much.

If there is much interest in how this was done. I'll take pics.

I plan on putting an antena on the passenger side too. That one will be only for looks.

Jeff,

Just an FYI. I've run Francis 5'6" fibreglas, and of late a Wilson T2K mounted on one or both of the mirrors and have had no vibration problems at speed. So far the Wilson has been the superior antenna for TX and RX range. The Francis antennae have plenty of flex that appears to absorb vibration. The top end sometimes looks like a hula dancer in the wind but it has yet to cause undue mirror vibration. Can't testify as to what a short Francis might do.
