I've decided to go with a Ranch Hand Bullnose front bumper on my '03 Ram 3500 Laramie Sport. Can anyone out there suggest a resource for this product that will ship to me in Northern California for a "reasonable price"? Also, if you might have one if these on your truck, would you care to tell me about how you like/dislike it. Thanks!

For your first question, go here: http://www.ranchhand.com/dealers.asp

I never wanted or needed one of those big, heavy bumpers on my truck... Then I bumped (MAYBE 5 mph) an old F-150. I suffered severe sticker shock at what it was going to cost to replace the factory tinfoil, even after the insurance paid off.

I went to the Ranch Hand outlet in Irving, bought a Legend bumper and never looked back. This is one tough bumper. One look at it and you can tell it's a quality piece. The welds are solid with no spatter onto adjacent metal. The powder coat is top notch too.

It does stick out about a foot farther than the stock bumper. I call it my "front porch". My 6-year old grandson loves to "help" me work under the hood. He can literally walk around between the grill guard and the A/C condenser. Heck, I stand in there when I change the fuel filter! :-laf It has no trouble holding my 250 lbs.

It gets lots of compliments, too. The last one was at the local Love's truck stop while I was filling up. A guy roughly my age (old) walks over from two rows over with a big grin on his face and says. "That's one serious bumper!". Also as usual, he wanted to know where I got it.

Now I want the matching back bumper. Of course, then I'll have to get my aluminum running boards Line-x'd so it will all match. :D

Hope this is what you were looking for.

I've got them front and rear on both my trucks. I like them except for the powdercoating. They seem to have missed the "screen" along the edges where it's attached (now rusting) and both the rears are showing a lot of surface rust from winter salt spray.

If I ever get some extra time and money, I might pull them off and LineX (or some kind of liner material) them with a smooth finish. (Most likely it will be Rust Oleum and a disposable brush though. LOL)

Great bumpers. Had a front one on my old 98' and have a rear one on my 04'. I would however beef up the front end with at least some KORE springs and heavy duty shocks. The factory suspension even with the snowplow option {which I have on my truck} isnt enough for a stock truck in my experience, much less one with the added weight of a heavy duty bumper.

you might also want to check out browns welding equipment... . i am very pleased with there front bumper replacement (see readers rigs for pictures or check out my webshots page)

my rear replacement is a ranch hand cowboy 10" drop bumber which i stole of ebay for 125 bucks. it worked out to something like 250 with freight.

buckstop bumpers

If you have any interest in adding a winch you might want to check out buckstop. biz for their line of bumpers. I have their bumper with a 12000 lb warn winch and find the quality, fit, and finish is excellent. With a full 1/4 inch plate material I was concerned about the weight. My truck had the factory snowplow option and I find no problem with the additional pounds. The optional bull bar is a full three inch thick wall pipe. I find this to be a serious bumper that will add some front end protection.

I looked at the southwest metal bumpers I like them the best, they have a model that doesn't stick out so much in the front, that is what I would prefer. I don't want to have so much trouble parking my truck at the grocery store. how much weight does that add to the front of the truck?? and what happens to the frame when you hit something with one of these

Since you live in Northern Cal. you could save shipping and get a fine bumper from www.reunel.com. I am very happy with mine, moderate weight, great strength, no loss of mpg--so many of the aftermarket bumpers cost 1. 5 or more mpg, I have heard from others.

What is the weight of the Reunel ?

what about ali-arc bumpers they have been making them for big-rigs for years. buddy got one like the one in the pic for $1020 ship to his door. looks sweet he even told them he wanted 5 up rights instead of the little headlight garud, looks mean!

I love my ranchhand front end though I agree with the powder coating comments above. On my 03 it has not settled my front end a bit after 2 years. I bought it after an accident. I talked with ranchhand and they suggested that my body shop buy it. The jobber price they get it for paid for the shipping and I even had money left over.

I am running the basic Ranchhand Grille Guard. I love it, the fit and quality are great. The price and ease of install another story, yet i did the install all by myself so eh?
