I am looking at replacing the original shocks on my 1999 Ram 2500 CTD - I use it has a general weekend driver and do some light to moderate hauling. I am wondering what you folks thought about those newer RS7000 Ranchero shocks? I was going to but MonoMaxs on but saw the Ranchero was now making a monotube non-adjustable shock as the RS7000. I don't think I want the 9000s because I don't see me crawling under there to adjust them so I was thinking the RS7000s. Would appreciate any input on the RS7000 especially compared to the KBY Monomaxs.

Thank you,

Just order a set of Billstines from Geno's - - - they hold up better than anything I,ve ever had - - have 9100,s all around for 140k miles and they are great.

You will be happy with the rancho RS7000 monotube shock. I put four of them on my 99 when I had it and it was a major improvement. It was summer of 2012 and they were new on the market so I got a promotional rebate so that was a major deciding factor for me at the time. I currently have bilstein 5100s on my dually, but can't tell a difference between them and the rancho monotubes, both good quality. The ranchos have the same silver finish and black boot on them. I did a write up on my install in the 2nd gen forum a while back if you want to see pics of them. To me what it boils down to is who has the best deal

I have ran Rancho's, never the RS7000's but 5000's and 9000's, on multiple rigs and never been impressed. The Bilstein 5100 is hands down the best shock I have ever put on a rig.

This is an old thread. But, Im considering putting new shocks on my truck. Are Bilsteins still a good bet ? For for empty and towing ? My TT is only about 4k lbs. Where I go hunting there are quite a few washboard roads.

Unless you have ALOT more money to get a larger diameter, custom valved shock, then the Bilstein 4600HD or 5100 remains a great way to achieve a better ride and better handling in your truck. And Genos garage remains a great place to buy them!!
