Also interested in these. Anybody put a black boot on these instead of red? White shock just doesn't seem like it'd look good, especially in plain view on a 4x4. Any opinions?

Rancho is now offering a buy 3 get 1 free deal on the RS 9000 & RS 5000 shocks. I got my 9000's yesterday, from a local 4X4 shop 66 each time 3 plus tax.

re: I got a different price

Chris B. ,

I am not sure what's up. There were no special pricing at the time. Actually, I was purchasing something else and thought I would check the price for the Ranchos. They quoted me the same price 3 times ( one person even quoted without looking in the book and another person verified it) and I sent someone else to pick them up a week later after they ordered them for me... . same price. I will check the invoice to see if there is a name of the sales person.

Sorry to hear they would not honor the same deal, but I did get rs9000s $89. 00 a pair x 2 for a total of 178 plus tax.

They owe me a credit so I will probably need to call them later in the week, I will ask them and post any updates.

rs9000 for $45

Ok... I just spoke with Tom @ Custom truck and he said he will honor the $45. 00 price for the rs9000, less shipping. This is the best price I found.

Good luck!! :)

I would like to order a set for my 3500 2wd... ... . Are the RS9000's a standard size..... or do we need to measure before we call?

Jason

Jason,

I believe that there is only one listing for our trucks. They should have an application book, another member listed the part #s and they are the same as what I have.

Hope that helps

Chris

I called Tom and he said the price listed is way wrong. He said 45 bucks was below his cost. Where else can a guy buy only two shocks and get a decent deal?:(

edit - I called the following number and asked for Tom - 775 885-8111. The Tom I spoke with said that someone posted an incorrect price. I believe he quoted me over 60 bucks a shock but didn't really pay attention once he told me the web price was incorrect. Hope this helps!

Pricing

The original question was where to get a goood price, and the best I found was at:

http://www.samsoffroad.com

Currently a set of 4 is 197. 85 and NO cost for shipping - provided you order over the web.

Had trouble contacting them by phone (busy) but finally gots thru to verify the price/availability and part #s ( 2500 y2k, 4x2 front are: RS9195; 4x4 front are: RS9197; both take the RS9198 for the rear)

confusion

Here is the low down... .

I just spoke with Tom @ custom truck and unfortunately they can not do the same deal. Apparently, they charged me $89 for a pair when it should have been $89 each. I suppose I got a one time deal. Sorry for all the ruckus and the confusion. I just figured they could do the same deal and I wanted to let everyone know and to share the deal.

Funny thing when I spoke with Tom on Monday, he said he would do the deal for 45. 00 ea. Now he is changing his story... . I too am confused, as we did not talk 89. 00 pair vs. each????

Anyways, sorry for kicking up some dust. :(

Chris

No problem Chris. Sounds like you got a real good deal, just too bad we can't duplicate it. Regardless though, I've got to agree with Ben as I have done some searching for the best price on the RS9000's myself and it seems that Sam's has the best price going. I was almost ready to place an order with Summit when I read this post so I contacted Sam's and found out that they do have stock of the 9197's and 9198's (as I was told on the phone) whereas the 9197's are backordered at Summit and both are backordered at Rancho (about 3 weeks for delivery). Best of all, they are a little cheaper than Summit and have free delivery. Needless to say, I placed my order today.

I appreciate everyone's help in hunting the lowest price and look forward to getting these installed.

Thanks,

Chris Boggs

Small update on SAM's

Need to get this TTT as:

Sent wrong shocks for the front (have 2x4 and sent the 4x4's), e-mailed them last nite and Rick called me today - shipping out correct shocks ASAP, AND including a call tag for the wrong parts.

Talking about customer service - at least they treated me GREAT! Picking up wrong parts at their cost and no extra charge for replacing their mistake (some vendors would be charging for both extra shipping AND requiring the orig parts to be returned before shipping out replacements :{ ).

5 Stars to Sam's Off road for this... ...

:D :D :D :D :D

They also still have the good pricing available... ... .

FWIW

I was VERY dissapointed with my service from Sams. I called them last thursday and told them I needed the shocks by the next friday, as I was going out of town for two weeks. Called the next thursday to see why I hadnt received them. He told me they were backordered and were sent out on wednesday. He didn't tell me this, when he had my phone # and email. The whole reason for me getting these was for my trip, and now I won't even get them in time. Very poor service, IMO. Will not do buisness with again.

Rancho 9000 price discrepancy idea

I bet what happened on the confustion was this:

Rancho has a lesser shock (I think the 5000, non-adjustable) and that was probably the price you were quoted as it's about $ 20 bucks cheaper.

I got the 9000's last summer after reading about em here, and they are as good as others said. I love the adjustability and generally run them at about # 2 front / # 1-2 rear, unloaded for comfortable driving.

For towing huge, I've gone to # 5 / # 5 max on both ends and what a huge difference that makes.

Point is: they're not a cheap shock, but they do what others don't and also, they have an Unlimited Warranty so if they wear out... ... ... .

Shocks Arrived

I just wanted to let the readership know that the shocks came in on Friday and the correct units were shipped. It did take a couple extra days for Sams to ship the units compared to what they claimed they would do, but otherwise it was a good transaction.

Chris

What a deal!

>$50 each for a set of RS9000's! That's a great deal. No shipping either. I just bought mine. I havebeen waiting for something like this to come around to give me an excuse to buy them. I won't have them in time for Memorial Day weekend to really see what they will do, but it's not that big of a deal. At 50k miles, those OEM shocks are toast. Thanks to the TDR for keeping us infomed.

Ok so where is the best deal on the dual in cab controller? I really, really like the shocks but am tired of changing the settings every time I hook up to my trailer.

Dual In cab controller?

Did I read this right? What sort of gizmo is available that allows you to modify the switch settings on your RS9000s remotely from within the cab?

RS 9000's on Back Order

FYI

I ordered a set of RS 9000's yesterday and Sams off-road called me back the same day and told me that there would be a waiting period b/c all the warehouses where out of stock and are waiting for Rancho so ship them more inventory. The guy told me to expect my set 2nd week of June.
