I finally installed my Rancho RS9000 shocks with the in-cab controller, and they seem to work fine. While I know everybody has their own tastes on such things, I'd like to know what others who have this system installed on their trucks run the shocks at (pressure-wise) while both loaded and unloaded.

Thanks,

Steve

Mt truck is stock and I had the DW so I have the front set at 8 all the time. I can feel the truck starting to wobble so until I find out what is wrong they will stay at 8. The rears are at 5

Brian,

Our trucks are very similar, so I'm interested in both what caused your previous DW (and its fix) and this issue you're having now. My truck's got 60K miles on it and I've never experienced DW (yet!). If you don't mind, please info me later.

Thanks,

Steve

On my 01 I use front 3 and rear 4 for a load. Empty it is 3 front and two rear.

I'm thinking about putting on some 9000's on the rear only, seems the adjustable feature not needed up front?

I've been playing with the shock settings, and like having the adjustability up front as well. So far, I'm pleased with the ride the shocks give. They made a big difference on the rear when set to a stiff setting while towing my 5er.

Steve, My truck has just about 60k. The truck started to feel different at about 45k. I do not know how to explain it but I could feel the front end becoming more and more loose. It was not a lot just a little but I could still tell. I had thought that it might be the steering stabilizer so I replaced that, no change. Okay waited about 4 months and thought I should change out the shocks. Changed all 4 and I still feel the front end not being that tight. I have known that my ball joints are going bad but they are still pretty good and thought that this could not be the problem yet. Coming home from work one day I had a junior death wobble only last 5 sec. Going up to CT for the see food get together I had the dw REALLY BAD. I now have a vibration That I can not find because it is gone now  How that is possible is just crazy. I can feel the truck wanting to DW but it doesn't. I have to check the ball joints again and the track bar. The track bar is going to tough I am only 185 and how I will see it move under my power is going to be tough. This is my first solid front axle truck so I am learning as I go. Hope this helps.

Brian,

I guess that I've just been lucky with my truck on things like this. I've really had none of the various issues others have complained about on their 3d gens. How long my luck will hold out is an issue yet to be resolved though. Again, if you ever determine what your DW cause is, please let me know.

Thanks,

Steve

My rear Rancho started to leak?

I could not find the leak. I soaped every line and no leak so I went to the shop and they said the shocks were leaking so I sent them back today plus got the new ones also today. Now I got to put them on. I might not hook them up to the air compressure. Have any of you tried them both ways with and without the air compressure???? Well deer season Is upon us and I have not seen a single sign of a deer yet.

Any one know the PART # for the RANCHO 9000series rear for lifted(4-6") 2nd gens? Im running the bilstein 5100 series BE5-6646-H5 on the front and want to run the ranchos on the back for the adjustibility.

I had a one time bad DW incident. Mine was stupid combination of BFG 315s with 35psi tire pressure and I lowered the Ranchos to 4 on the front, along with other dumb things. Tires have 48-50psi now and the Ranchos are at 7 on the front. DW was over 25,000 miles ago and not a hint of one since. Ride is a little stiff, but doesn't bother me. It is a heavy duty 3/4 ton 4x4 truck after all.

Even when unloaded, I keep my tires aired up to at least 75 psi and keep the Ranchos on 7 front and back (front and rear to the max when towing). Yea, the ride's a little rough, but the increase in tire wear and fuel mileage is worth it. In over 60,000 miles I've not experienced the DW and my front end parts are as tight now as when new. I wonder how much of that fact can be attributed to my having drilled/tapped my front end parts (except ball joints) for grease fittings?

That sounds like a really good idea. I did not know there was anything to hold the grease in. Are you just refilling, or are you putting grease where they did not want to spend extra money.
