Ok, the well Informed already know that RANCHO does not make a traction bar for the Dodge pick-up. Why? I don't know. There sure seems to be a large market for them, but anyway. I really liked the look and benefit of the bars when I installed them on a chevy. So since I was familiar with the models length and mounting style, I ordered another set for the chev and made it fit. The front mount bolts up with-out modification, it's the back one that is different. Our trucks have heavier springs, which give it a much larger bolt pattern then the 1500 chevy. I just made an adapter that fit under the axle and then bolted the original plate to it. Nothing very complicated, just took about 2 hours to fab up. They do look very nice under the big old Dodge, the Rancho color is Red so that is what this are. They must catch alot of attention, cause I already had two people stop and ask what they were, while I was installing them. I haven't got to road test them yet, my truck is still on jack stands, while I do the front next. But I will post back later and let you know. The main point of this is, even though they might not make a product specifically for our trucks, with just a little imagination we can get the ones we want.

Did you try the Fabritech's

I ordered these but they are built to request, suppose to show up in a few days. Are your Rancho's a single link or is it built like a ladder bar type? I had a set of Rancho's once and bent them in reverse, on a different truck, single link type. Post some pictures if you can.

Well today I got to go for a ride, and I was very pleased with every thing that was new. Rancho does not make a bar for the dodge, so I ordered a chevy 1500 mounting kit (RS5557), and then the bars (RS6672), then I just made the rear mount. The front fit fine. They seam to work fine, and travel smoothly. So for now It's a big old thumbs up.

Post some pictures of those Fabritechs when installed if you can. I want some. Oo.

I'm pretty sure Rancho used to make a kit for the Dodges. Piers had a set a on the 98, 12v QC he used to drive. Maybe he modded them to fit?

I'll do that may be awhile got lots of projects... ..... later..... :D

Just for info on the Fabritechs, if you can order them from anywhere but National Tire and Wheel do so. Not real trust worthy so far, little shady.

Lets clear some things up... . I put the FABRITECH Stage II traction bars on my Ford. It was built as a Pre-Runner style truck, and there bars worked fine. They are offered thru NTW and are built specifically for that year and model of truck. They are the double parallel design, strong enough for it's application. I have spent, literally thousands at National Tire& Wheel (NTW). They have always treated me great, with respect, and honestly. I would and still do alot on business with them. They have a huge, huge warehouse in West Virginia. And I often order on the net, and drive down to pick it up. You would not believe the volume of business they do, litterly several semi's a day with ups. They have great prices on most aftermarket parts and tires, and are slowly getting into the diesel performance market. Words can not describe the feeling of standing next to a 49" Super Swamper Irok, They are huge, and weigh twice what I do.

On my Dodge, I installed the RANCHO lateral traction bars. They do not, and have never made a bar for our trucks. I ordered there mounting kit for a late model CHEVY (#RS5577), this kit bolts right up to the frame rail for the front. And In the rear I had to make a mount, which wasn't that had. The bars them selves (#RS6672) simply bolt on after the poly bushings and race's are pushed in. They are a heavy single bar design, with gussets on each end. I feel they are built strong enough for my intended application, Time will tell.

My main reason for posting on forms like this, is to allow people the chance to engage in dialect on there wants and needs. In this case I wanted everyone to know that with just a little imagination and creativity, these bars could be used successfully on the Dodge truck, even though with were not offered for it.

y-knot,

I had a set of those on an '86 ranger with a 9 inch lift. They worked great and cured my intolerable axle wrap. I may put a set on my dodge. I saw a set on a Cummins about 4 years ago. I assumed they were a bolt on deal, but I guess he must have fabbed his own mounts also. I'm sure they were ranchos.

You can get the whole kit that will bolt right on a Dodge from Randys Off Road there # is 360-659-5259, he will ship anywhere.

You are correct, and the FABRITECH bars are very nice. They do sell a bar for the Dodge with a Cummins. And it is available at NTW also. I went with a different set-up cause 1. ) I am bored am like to have projects. 2). I have a set of the FABRITECHs installed on the ford, I didn't want all the trucks to look to much alike. 3. ) I liked the challeng of makeing it work 4. ) I liked the ideal of not seeing anyone else on the road, with this set-up (guess I blew that one by posting?)

Also a nice member posted me stating that RANCHO at one time did make a bar for the Dodge. I did several searches, and combed there website, but never found were they offered any thing for my truck. Thanks
