First Sierra tow with the Comp...

Tow in 5th or 6th?

Heavy Duty

:D Thanks for the heads up Bob. I called their 800 number and asked if I got the correct shock. He checked and said that I did order the heavy duty part number for my truck. I will verify the info in a day or so when they get here. I will post with the info when they arrive. Thanks, Sarge

When I called I asked for the TDR discount. The guy on the phone knew right away what I needed. Models BE5-2549 and BE5-2550. He also gave me the story about the other vendors complaining.

I just ordered mine from ORW myself. I figured since they're getting flack from other vendors, they'd change their toon fast on the price. Thanks to who set up the group discount. They still beat Dad's member discount at campingworld.

different #'s foe 2wd Vs. 4wd

BE5-2549

BE5-2550

are 4wd part numbers and I paid $54. 99 last december.

After that Bilstein raised the price to ORW, I know that foe sure because I spoke to ORW directly

The $45. 00 is not for the above mentioned part numbers, no way, no how, it wont happen

:(

ToddG. relax you didn't get bent over :)

Oo. The Bilsteins arrived today, and I called and verified that they were the correct ones for my truck. However, Bob is correct, the part numbers are different for the 4WD and the 2WD trucks. I have the 2WD, and the $45. 99 price applied. It was interesting though, the price sticker on the boxes say $49. 99... ..... Go figure. I will put them on Friday and make a test run. Then let the comparisons begin... ... ... . Sarge

I got the Bilsteins from ORW too... I love em, much better than stock. My Dad (98. 5 3500) got shocks at the same time, he put Bilsteins on the front and Rancho 9K's on the back. He tows lots and that should be the trick set up. When we put the Bilsteins on the front he said it felt like he had an entier new front end on his truck. The back does not feel much different but he has not towed with it yet.

Both :D My truck weighs around 7600 lbs empty and has the heavier springs that come with the snow plow option.

Just Installed......

I just installed the Bilsteins on all four corners. After a few days of around town and on the freeway unloaded, the review is positive. While it still rides like a truck, the bumps are not as sharp and the recovery after a dip is smoother. I will be towing with them this weekend, and that should be the telling test. So far, I am pleased with the ride. They seem they ride a little less harsh than the RS9000 did. I will post again after the trip to San Diego this weekend. Driving the Interstate 5 Southbound is akin to a washboard in many areas, so I will see how the Bilsteins handle the ride. Sarge

Both great shocks

I helped a buddy of mine install Bilsteins on his '99 long bed about a month and a half ago. The truck rides great, better than it ever did before.

I just put RS9000s on my truck yesterday and I'm equally pleased with the results. Since my truck is a short bed, it has always ridden rougher than his truck did. With the Ranchos on and set to 3 up front and 1 in the rear, it has smoothed the ride out to the point that it equals his truck now. It also removed quite a bit of the hop from the rear end when hitting rough patches of back roads.

I was equally impressed with the ride with a load on the truck. We hauled two loads of steers to the auction yesterday and the Rancho's set on 5 really firm up the ride.
