Random Horn Honk

Anyone have an idea why my ride honks at me from the driveway? Is it lonely? But seriously, my '04 cummins 2500 has a random horn honk just sitting in front of the house. It even did it when I was visiting friends. Doesn't matter if the doors are locked or not. I have the stock security system. I shut off the honk feature when locking the doors and it still does it. Luckily the horn has it's own fuse. It doesn't honk right now, but that silences the security system.

Had to replace several horn button pads in the past for the exact same reason. 2004 trucks.

Thanks. I was hoping it might be something besides the Front Control Module. I will give that a try.

So, I got in my rig on Friday and "click", nothing. Batteries dead. She fired up with a jump from my Ford Ranger. I had read about pulling the horn fuse and how it doesn't keep the truck from honking the horn so to speak; it just keeps it quiet. You need to disconnect the horn pad. There is some jargon about the control modules still running juice to the horn circuit, which runs down the batteries. The reason I know it was the horn, was when I got back to the house after running the truck to charge it, I put the horn fuse back in and the horn began to blare immediately. Obviously the horn drained the batteries. Go to your manual (you all should have a manual for these gen 3 Dodges) to get the specifics on how to remove the air bag without setting it off and how to disconnect the horn. Then tell me where I can buy a replacement horn pad.

I replaced the air bag cover on the steering wheel. It contains the horn switches

problem solved. The part cost $138. 00 I did it myself without much trouble. Be

sure to unhook the batteries and wait 5 minutes to disable the air bag.
