Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
Does anyone else out there have any experience with the Mitsubishi 5 speed in Ford ranger 4x4 trucks? Mine is an '89. I'm in the process of repairing 5th gear and associated parts, because (I believe) the mainshaft nut came loose. There was a bunch of heat generated between the gear and the syncro hub as well as the gear and the large thrust washer. I just need to know if this is a possible cause so I can feel confident that when I put it back together it won't happen again from a cause I hadn't thought of.
Funny; I ask a similar question on a Ranger site and got "0" answers. I figured I can at least get an educated response from the "experts" that use this site. There is always a bunch of good help and suggestions here.
