I have never heard of this truck. Seems to be modernized some, the Big Cam Cummins arrived in 1978 I think. Looks like a Mack.

I remember the "Big Horns", as the article said they didn't make that many. Dealers were not set up to handle big trucks either.

That's interesting that you are familiar with them, you might have seen this one. It sold on E-Bay on 3-25-16 in Pembroke, Maine. Some options include: Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, power windows and a Cassette Player, Lol

I remember them also guys...there were quite a few around the Maritimes years ago. From the hood back,it was the same "cab forward" design with those swing out fender that the 800 series and 900 series trucks had, then they put the big snout on it and called it a Bighorn. If i recall they were seriously underpowered at the time with 8V-71 detroits and such. The one i drove as a young whippersnapper had the swing out fenders,413CU IN Gas engine and a 5 and 4 transmission......great fun to learn on. Mike.....was there a Triple5 cummins or some such on the go at that time also?

Yes, there were some Cummins "Triple Nickle" powered stuff around. My uncle still has one in a Fleetstar F-2070 IH. It is a miracle that it still exists, most of them blew up and were scrapped...

I'll show these guys some pictures of the "Scot" trucks, used to see them in Houlton from time to time. I believe the Canadian Military had some as well.....

When J.D. Irving builds his own damn trucks....

Them are some cool old trucks, it's interesting that they used the Ford Louisville cabs on some models.

I do remember them, but they were few and far between in our area. Macks were thick as flies being we were so close to Allentown.

The last one of those Dodge Bighorns i saw was about 10 years ago at the Irving Big Stop at Enfield Nova Scotia, just outside Halifax. He had rebuilt it, installed a 350 cummins and a 15 over transmission (if i recall correctly)
