i installed the rasp on the weekend

i had problems with the rasp losing prime, and Bill at DTT helped me with it "thanks DTT" now that i have that fixed, i have the hobbs set at 8 psi.

after install i had 18psi at wot IMO that was too high so

i have played with it and i am now running 15 psi at WOT

13 psi cruz

i am thinking about bringing it down to around 14psi at WOT

i was wondering what everyone was seeing??

Thanks

Scott

14. 5-14. 8 at idle

15. 4-15. 6 at cruise

18. 5 at the end of the 1/4

I fiddled with different springs and shims in the pressure relief valve until I got it where I wanted it.

I would not bring it down too much. A couple of us are playing with VP44 heat and are determining that the bypass open (ie above 14 psi) has A LOT to do with cooling the VP.

I am running with mine at 16 at anything above 1000 rpm. I am cooling down my turbo at shutdown at 1000 rpm now to pass more fuel through the VP.

I do not understand various psi settings at different rpm's. Mine at anything over 1000 rpms is 16 psi and that does not vary any.

i am seeing 15psi above 1000 and it will not move

i am going to keep a close eye on it this week and i will post back

i have also ben looking at cooling the vp i found a autometer gage that goes from 60 to 200 deg. it has a 1/8 npt fitting on i plan on mounting it just before the vp, to keep a eye on temps

Thanks

I would question the accuracy of your gauge. The slightest adjustment in the pressure relief (spring or shim) would sky rocket my FP so it took about six or seven trys to get it where I wanted it. On one of my many spring/shim combo's I just simply added one shim and my pressure was fine at idle, but as soon as I started to accelerate the pressure quickly jumped up to 20 psi at about 1200RPM  (if only everyone had that problem huh :-laf )

Questioning the accuracy of my gauge, I borrowed a buddies just for reassurance and mine was spot on with his.

If your not seeing an increase in pressure with more RPM something does sound a little odd... . like I said, I'd check your gauge. You my be seeing quite a bit more than 16 psi.

i have played with springs and shims,

i have 14 at start up in gear 12, cruz'n at 65 i have 15, under light load at 60mph going up a hill 1500rpm it will drop to 12 then climb to 15. let off the peddle it will go to 17.

i think it is time for a better regulator.

Scott

at start up i have 12psi, in gear i have 10psi, cruz'n@65 15psi, slight uphill grade to hold 65mph 13psi, cruz'n at 65 let off quick it will go to 16. 5-17psi

i don't think this is normal!!!

I called Bill at DTT i think we may have the fix

i cant say enough about DTT and their customer service!!!! out of this world!!! thanks Bill

Bill says the regulator could cause my problem, he told me to try a few things, if it don't fix it then he would send me a new one

the filter was just changed

you seeing the same thing?

scott

I have around 14 at idle. . and about 16 when I have it wot. .

No problems. . Olee Poole put it on with the big line kit.

Bill told me to pull the regulator off and clean up the bullet with some 400grit sand paper set the bullet in and seat it with a love tap with a hammer and punch

so i did all that and it seems to be a lot better

i did the same with the 1 way valve

he said it that didnt help he would send me a new spring

About a month ago I started having some sparatic FP readings (higher than usual), I changed out the filter and now I'm back to the above mention pressures. I'm taking my pressure "post" filter so I was a little puzzled as to way I was seeing an increase in FP with an aging and possiibly dirty filter, If I was taking it "pre" I could understand. Oh well, I'm not gonna loose any sleep over it. It's not like I was loosing pressure. :D

As far as a spring goes... . I just took the stock spring in the regulator ( I like to call it a pressure relief  ) down the the local hardware store and sized up different springs and begun to experiment, i. e, different lentghs, diameters, etc,
