Sorry, I didn't know you had posted questions to me. I occasionally check the "new posts" feature of TDR but your posts didn't show.

Yes, the TDR transmission builder who built mine is James Northrum in Midlothian, TX. He has been building automatic transmissions for a long time and I consider him very skilled. He does quality work and stands behind his work.

When my DTT billet flexplate bolts loosened up after installation he pulled the transmission and replaced the flexplate with another new one. The new one worked perfectly and didn't loosen up.

James told me he had tried another brand of thread locker when he installed my flexplate and apparently it wasn't up to the task.

Thanks Harvey for the info. I will give James a call on Monday. How many miles did you put on your truck after James put on the new Flexplate and what kind of miles were they. Towing or??

Thanks Again

Mike

I put about 95,000 - 100,000 trouble-free miles on it before I quit transporting. Many of those miles were pulling some very heavy fiver trailers across country and James' DTT/JTT transmission did a great job. Mine included all the DTT upgrades, all the billet parts that were available at the time.

Hello to all, I'm a newbie member/newbie owner of 03' 3500 QC 2WD with 305 H. O. /6spd, 3:73 11. 5 Diff.

One previous owner alledges that truck has original clutch with 86K miles. I have been routinely starting out (where level) in 2nd gear. I ocasionally get a shuddering or ??? noise.

What with these 6 spds being geared so low, it seems so unneccessary to use 1st gear when empty.

I honestly havent studied the owners manual. What is the accepted "normal" way to start from a stop when empty, while driving your 6spd's... ... ... ... ... ..... and what might the shuddering or "noise" be that I expereince ????????

Thanks for the mentoring,

Welcome to TDR and Dodge-Cummins ownership.

It would be more polite and following website etiquette to post this in a new thread of your own. Posting it here is changing the subject and "hijacking" the original poster's thread.

Hey Chuck,Welcome to the TDR. You will find this a fantastic resource of

information. I have had responses from the professional to the shade tree mechanic. All willing to share there experience and knowledge. It has helped

me make decisions that have saved me moneyOo. and some decisions that have made me spend money(Mods):-laf.

With regards to starting off in second gear,I have always started off in second unless I needed the extra gear when towing or pulling when I owned a stick. I now have an auto and that doesn't apply. Could be your clutch.

Harveys right you will have better responses by starting a new thread.

Good luck and enjoy the TDR. I guess this means I have Hijacked my own thread. #@$%!#@$%!. Well there is a first time for everything. ;)

Thanks

Mike

James Transmission Technology

Harvey,Talked to James at JTT today and he was generous with his time listening to my problem. He answered all my questions and gave me information

that was helpful. If I was in Texas there would be no doubt whose Transmission shop I would be using. JTT. Thanks Harvey again for sharing

your story. James also highly recommend the DTT transmission which made me fell like I made the right decision to go with them.

Got to love the TDR.

Take care all

Mike
